They have good reasons to pay attention to each other? And if they guess wrong, they'll get hurt. That's a good motivation to work hard to understand your enemy. #scifichat

Conflicting goals can work well for when you don't want your antagonist to be evil; petty grudges can signal stupidity or evil; and megalomania is very popular.

And then there's narcissism combined with bigotry...

Hello #scifichat! I’m getting ready for writing a bunch of songs in February. I’m sure a bunch will be speculative fiction, one way or another.

On the one hand, there have always been risks to any kind of transportation, but especially flight, and moreso space flight.

On the other hand, they are making a disclaimer out loud. That's not reassuring.

Demonstrators as far as the eye can see. Current status of the march in Downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota for Ice Out of Minnesota. They are turning onto 3rd Street from 5th Avenue.

It's very possible I'm misremembering. My dyslexic brain sometimes substitutes one word for a very similar one. #SciFiChat

And least-common-denominator stuff is already a problem. We don't need more of it.

I started rereading The Dresden Files, found there's a new story in the Junkyard Cats series by Faith Hunter, and bought it, just in time to be asked to proofread a friend's story, so those are waiting, for now.

I think first we need our laws changed so that we don't recognize just any entity as a "person" with the same rights as human beings. Not corporations, not computer programs, not robots. Humans should have more legally recognized rights than corporations, etc. #SciFiChat

I am not well-represented by randomized statistical curves. So, no I do not believe it is even trying to figure out what _I_ might say. I don't even think it is programmed to think about what a reasonable person would say.

Well, the combination of organic and human was what SF meant by Android for a very long time. #SciFiChat But the more I think about it, the more I think it has become like the word "vampire", and is defined differently in each fictional world. Data, for instance, is an "android".

Androids are definitionally part living organic organisms, and part computer and robotics. Not quite the same thing.
