It’s the kinda day where I feel I won’t be confident in my thoughts until I’ve written them a dozen times

I generally encourage myself to give up on a post before reaching that many rewrites

The problem is, we don't see what exposure to ideas does to us. The human brain is a machine for rationalising the irrational. It will tell you you're the same person you were a year ago no matter what you've been through. We all think - every single one of us - that we can't be manipulated.

Perhaps it's because I'm in a city centre church where we've literally had people graffiti theological questions on our notice boards in pencil and felt tip pen, or perhaps it's just that colliding the worlds inside and outside of ancient churches is my ~thing~, but I do legitimately love this.

People online are losing their absolute minds at this art installation at Canterbury Cathedral and all the ridiculous reasons they're giving as to why it's bad kind of prove the point of why it's good, actually.

I’d like to hope there’s a way to cultivate nuance and diversity of opinion.

But there’s absolutely limits! Hateful content is almost a form of pollution, it’s not good for you nor is it conducive to diversity

‘Catastrophic decline’ in Black representation in children’s books A report by charity Inclusive Books for Children found that of the 2,721 books surveyed, only 51 featured a Black main character, down by 21.5% since 2023

One of the things about this study is that a lot of baby and toddler books are written in house, by editors. So the study reveals the whiteness of editorial in kidlit even if not explicitly. I’m trying to be reasonably cautious about my words here, it’s not a given arrests will happen

But today’s news included someone getting arrested for holding the front page of a magazine at a protest.

Even with the best of intentions, any pro Palestine protest could result in arrests being made.

Will the time and place be decided by a vote?

For real tho, should Your Party actually manage to organise a Pro-Palestine march, I’d be very curious to see how it unfolds.
