04.11.2025 02:23 β π 267 π 6 π¬ 17 π 0I wish you the best of luck with whatever improv comedy club character you're doing research for with this bit, I genuinely do
04.11.2025 01:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sometimes you just gotta assume people are on here just to practice their tight 5 stand up routine for your sanity
04.11.2025 01:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That's a fucking hilarious example to bring up in this context lmao
04.11.2025 01:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I did say to a friend the other day who mentioned wanting to finally read it to perhaps find something a bit more recent lol. If nothing else because if she started saying cissexual it wouldn't really be conducive to constructive conversation
04.11.2025 00:11 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yup I would definitely go along with that, I have absolutely zero attachment to the term cissexual just as long as we have a way to talk about it
04.11.2025 00:05 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Hot take: people who don't want or need HRT are not materially affected by laws and policies restricting or denying access to HRT
04.11.2025 00:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The thing about transition care that we really need to internalize is that people have been calling it some kind of assimilitionist patriarchal technology since fucking Janice Raymond, and while the content of that allegation has changed over time it's always been the same bullshit.
03.11.2025 22:33 β π 100 π 13 π¬ 2 π 0I do think it's interesting that when talking about people who don't desire HRT you thought I was talking about non binary people. I'm a non binary person who needs HRT as do many others. It's almost as if these terms aren't sufficient at determining who has what needs with regards to access to care
03.11.2025 23:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think it's fair to look at what is physically happening and to who actually
03.11.2025 23:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I see that argument plenty I'm just not wholly convinced by it because they didn't choose their words for no reason, there was intent behind it, and saying we're all degenerate queers rings really hollow when one group is being materially harmed much more than the other
03.11.2025 23:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Let me give an example here.
A few weeks ago I came across a TikTok video by a diaspora creator talking about how "FGM" is dehumanizing language. "Call it excision and not mutilation, don't stigmatize the bodies of women who have experienced it!"
Here's the kicker.
The reason this matters is that right-wing movements and conservative regimes have similar goals and modes of operation everywhere, but left-wing politics can't even agree on the basics like patriarchy being an issue worldwide, or the oppression of women being something to take seriously.
03.11.2025 19:04 β π 210 π 27 π¬ 1 π 1Diaspora populations in the West, specifically, view the issues of their homeland or their culture through the lens of "Will talking about this make my culture look bad to white people?" and it's far past the time where that stops being important so fucking important.
03.11.2025 19:05 β π 162 π 18 π¬ 2 π 1Phrases like "white feminism" and "imperialism" and "decolonialism" have lost all meaning, subsumed by antifeminists and conservatives and people running PR for cultures they claim but never experience, all to dismiss the actual suffering of women the world over.
03.11.2025 19:06 β π 172 π 15 π¬ 0 π 0I don't have that much of a stake in this but I do understand the hurt. I just think it's worth recognising when it's time to center those with different needs from us
03.11.2025 22:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Advocating for? Not necessarily no but it does sting when the narrative of "not every trans person wants to transition ^^" is cited in stuff like the Cass review specifically to take away trans healthcare or when people say "you don't need HRT to be trans" to kids that have had their care taken away
03.11.2025 22:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Ergo I mostly keep my views to myself and don't preach to those who do need to use the medical system because they DO need to use it, it's not for me to speak over their needs. It's just checking yourself over stuff like that and too few do
03.11.2025 22:41 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Well for instance I'm non op, additionally I'm anti doctor for transition care and think people should take full ownership of their transition. This is very easy for me to say as someone who does not require a surgeon.
03.11.2025 22:40 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Insinuations that I am partaking in "large-scale cyberstalking of RCBG participants" must be viewed in the context that my intel tells me there is an Accord server RIGHT NOW that has a private viewing channel set up to log my online activity. MY documentation of opponents is self-defense!!
03.11.2025 19:51 β π 14 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0PLEASE refrain from speculating that user Estrogen's Favorite Princess has some manner of medical condition that would yield an advantage in the competition. Furthermore understand that even if Nichole DID have one, it would not make her "AFAB", as she is AMAB[1]

03.11.2025 16:25 β π 865 π 255 π¬ 8 π 1The way Westerners discuss conservatism and oppressed people in non-Western cultures is so utterly, irreparably broken.
I did not say "white", by the way. I'd have said "white" if I meant "white".
Westerners homogenize non-Western cultures and cast them as either "benevolent" or "evil".
When discussing these cultures, the reality of life for any non-Western person is not centered at all. Westerners are performing for each other, showing off how knowledgeable and cultured thery are.
If you talk about misogyny in a non-Western culture, you are immediately assumed to be dismissing that culture as evil and barbaric, worthy of being nuked from orbit. This runs the high risk of you being called racist!
So, in order to prevent this, Westerners ignore any issues completely.
A non-Western culture cannot be a complex society with its own castes, classes, conflicts, and contradictions. It has to be enlightened, simpler, happier, more primitive but all the more wise and enriching for it.
Y'know, orientalism.
That's all Westerners can do. Orientalism or xenophobia.
Diaspora communities participate in this via something of an international 'honor culture'. Many assiduously champion their homeland cultures without knowing what it's like to actually grow up in it. No, my culture is very progressive and modern and not at all "backwards", white man! How dare you!
03.11.2025 09:07 β π 395 π 24 π¬ 3 π 2And then, when an actual non-Westerner shows up, a woman or a queer or a member of a marginalized community, they are silenced because their struggle, their oppression, their experiences, their lives, their EXISTENCE is very inconvenient to the quaint orientalist narratives being sold.
