Update: finally fuckin' got back in. I had a minor scare when the support chat couldn't verify me and told me that account and my address on it were forfeit, but it turned out I had exactly one email telling me that I submitted the wrong online ID and it was much smoother sailing from there

I think people maybe do not give me enough credit for how much I hold back most days, bc given that high tempers seem to be hereditary in my family, and especially when I have to deal with those tempers while I'm already stressing out, I could be making some of y'all's lives a Lot fucking worse tbqh

And I still get to praise the design of the March and the overall world map here, because even if you do make the "mistake" of going all the way and brute-forcing March proper, you'll be rewarded at the end with a shortcut straight into the Docks corner, set right back on the path to the dash anyway

The thing is, by the time you run into the Deep Docks dead ends that require dash, the backdoor into Lower March is much closer and more natural to check, especially when you have the map. And from there, it's only one room with a handful of the easiest Skarrs to fight before you're back in Docks

And considering most people signed up for Silksong knowing what kind of open-ended Metroidvania structure its predecessor used, you'd figure more of them would be aware that if the first place you go feels inaccessible for any reason, there should be somewhere else to check. Anywhere else. And Yet,

The mini-boss guarding the entrance to HM is already more oppressive any mandatory encounter up to that point, and assuming you get past him, you're rewarded with precision platforming, tanky and aggressive enemies, and double-damage traps. You really should feel like you're Not supposed to be there

Maybe we underestimate how many skills one passively develops by regularly engaging with games, because I absolutely could've brute-forced the March or DS1's Catacombs and been hard-carried by 3 decades of motor skill alone, but I also had 3 decades of room-reading experience telling me Not To

It's insane to me anytime I see people say something like "how was I supposed to know Hunter's March was optional until I finished it," bc I'm fairly skilled at fast-paced games myself, and everything in the game language surrounding that place conveyed even to me that "this is a Future Me problem"
