Ultimately poe has an insane depth of gameplay aspects that you can completely remove the build making process and still have a very large number of gameplay mechanics to explore and enjoy π€
Maybe it's also just a nice balance of the two, try jumping in and making a couple builds then once you have those basics down it'll also be far more comfortable to pick up a build guide and follow it through.
That said you need to be the type of person who is alright with making mistakes and understand that it may take some time to properly progress knowing you'll probably hit some walls and may have to reroll multiple times throughout the process.
To be honest I still recommend people to just jump in and try make it through on their own, making mistakes is the best way to start understanding the build creation process and to better start understanding the mechanics which all come together to make it happen.
About* time.. heck
But I wholeheartedly believe it should be possible to build above one shot territory if focusing your build on defence. Whether or not this should extend to pinacle encounters really comes down to how much control they're willing to take over sustain, and obviously disabling pausing for those fights
Had I of applied a similar amount of investment into an es character I probably could have taken 3 or more hits of that same one shot to life damage. Most people would call for es to be taken down a notch, which is fair to a point.
It's been over a month so I've forgotten the name of it and all that but it wasn't entirely end game content or anything, again if it was Atziri I may have understood but I find it problematic for a defence focused character to have one shot risks against anything outside of pinacles.
All of that plus a defiance of destiny to help with sustain was feeling wonderful for the majority of content as you would imagine. I could see it running into trouble with any pinacle boss fights so I was leaving all that till later when I suddenly got one shot to the temples commander thingo.
In 0.4 I played potentially one of the tankiest life builds I could put together, think it was roughly 80% phys taken as ele and over 150000 effective armour against ele damage, not to mention shaman's adaptions for up to 60% less of a certain elemental damage if the hits lined up nicely.
Actually it's able time I drop some opinion points on the current balance pains of poe2. The major of which shouldn't come to a surprise but the life/es battle isn't getting any closer, at least from a hardcore players perspective.
Really should start using ye ol' bluesky a little more... And perhaps start streaming again, I've got the time after one of my recent contracts fell through π€
Still holding out for when/if they're able to shift their presence or at least duplicate their postings to another platform, such as over here but it doesn't seem like that'll be happening any time soon.
Some recent appeals I through out there got responses saying my account was unsuspended, and yet my account remains suspended so who knows what's going on in their support backend π€·
Would have been nice to get it back to be able to respond to some poe stuff from time to time.
Embrace the typical dad's thumbs up π
I think I've blocked my least favourite meme from my memory, honestly nothing it coming to mind π
Classic time zones... Unless you mean New Zealanders were posting it on Thursday π
I mean the gooners do have the mermaid boss now... π
Yeah I don't mind a matcha dessert, but it's certainly an acquired taste when standalone.
I've never been a coffee guy, if anything I'll go for a tea of some variety. I get one hell of a buzz on the very rare occasion I have an energy drink π
Unfortunately that would require them to animate all monsters not only walking backwards/strafing but also dodge rolling/sprinting π
The 3 forms they have planned have already proved to be a nightmare (but that also includes a range of skills for each)
Really do hope they would be open to adding smaller features like mouse&keyboard/controller hot swapping mid-league if possible but they may be a little too busy cooking the next poe1 league after the initial couple of weeks of usual adjustments in 0.3.
No new classes for 0.3 is a bit of a shame but it certainly feels like everything else lined up easily makes up for it - looking like a banger for sure π€
The more experienced you are with the game the less likely you'll need to end up doing the extra farm. One major credit to the campaign bosses is once you get used to their movesets it's rather manageable to dodge through or away from most danger so it's just a matter of whittling away at their life
Yeah the big thing most people struggle to grasp is your gear is essentially the difficulty setting - Having a little trouble? Simply redo a zone or two to find some upgrades then it'll all be chill again.
The other perhaps more convincing argument for those who don't like that first one is simply performance - even poe2 gets to the point of dropping many items in short bursts and having the mod generation happen simultaneously as they drop is extra strain on a system which already chugs at times.
There at two solid sides to this, the player psych angle which the Devs have discussed, it's an extra level of discovery, you get excited for the base drop for the potential, then have the chance to get excited again for the ID reveal.
Here I was expecting poe2 0.3 to drop on the date of my wedding but it's thankfully been pushed to late August, which will be the day after we get back from our honeymoon, great success! π
"Expansion name reveal this week" π
But I feel like if they can get the conditionals right it'll be the perfect solution, making travel feel less tedious for those concerned without minimising the balance around movement in combat π
Obviously the challenge would be defining when you're in combat, if it's based on distance from mobs or perhaps even being within a distance of a mob for a certain duration.
