I have a running gag where Ray does completely innocuous stuff and pokemon go "damn he's so hot 😩” and the joke is that we humans have no grasp on pokemon beauty standards so the audience goes "I guess???"

One of the things I've tried is to save the end result for another day. When you make something, you're constantly looking at it so distancing yourself from it can help you think of ways to change something. Or better yet, you might find yourself surprised at how it worked the first time!
