You're giving bloodlines 2 way too much credit. The game lacks the charm of the first one when come to the game part outside of combat.

When does ''Taking the game own merits'' stop and you have to admit that a name and genre has certain expectations.

Bloodlines 2 have it's merit for sure, but it was sold as an Action RPGs that's a sequel to Bloodlines. It ain't about unrealistic expectations, it's about getting what was promised.

Yet still captures the feeling of the TTRPG much better than the sequel. Also kinda embrasing that 24 years later, bloodlines 2 is struggling to go toe to toe when compared to an unfinished game.

Sequels that have an inherit expectations behind them unless it's openly said otherwise. Especialy those that share the same genre.
