How Characters Change and Die Interview with Chris Avellone: Part II

Talking shop on character design, NPC categorization, the importance of a "low level" supporting cast for creating ambiance, some tales from the Worldwound, and the critical element that A.I. could never have thought of for Annah in Planescape Torment.

Nothing like getting an invite to speak on game writing only to discover they think you are Todd Howard in the invite

So of course, I accepted immediately

I'm late to the party on this one, but the "Spy x Family" series has been one of the best anime series I've seen in a while. Lot of fun, and lot of heart. : )

Can't wait for the next season.

Distant Shore: Bretagne is a Portal-style game that utilizes magnetics to manipulate the environment - Gabriel Sauvage is the director. Looks (and plays) pretty fun.

I haven't finished Season 2 yet. No opinions beyond what was in episode 1, which kinda killed my forward momentum. I'll get around to it eventually, though.

I'm just sick of fighting it every time I try to do something simple in any Microsoft program.

Can't switch off its suggestions and "functionality" fast enough, but it always finds a way to rear its dragon's head eventually. : /

While Phil Spencer is retiring, unfortunately copilot is not

That was just my perspective, though, some of the area designers might know better. I don't object to the NCR as a faction, though, it's more about "if you're going to include a faction you can join, try and give it equal content to the other factions."

If I recall correctly, it wasn't "cut," it just wasn't thought about for a long time vs. continually adding NCR content. (Toward the later stages of the project, I begged them not to add more NCR outposts as "area ideas," the faction design distribution was already unbalanced.)

No sorries, was good to know, had no idea. Happy to intervene.

I asked him to remove any posts that mention me (he did, only to make another which I have also asked to be removed), and I have no opinions on his claims on Ashfall.

Have requested my name not be brought into any social media flame wars and asked for said posts mentioning me to be deleted.

Fallout Apocrypha V1.1 Update 4–30–22 V1.1: So when doing updates to the Fallout Apocrypha, I’m going to do a few things:

Yeah, if you go here: chrisavellone.medium.com/fallout-apoc... and scroll down to "things I liked about Fallout 3" (and the rest of the critique), that gives a list.

Predator: Badlands | Official Trailer YouTube video by 20th Century Studios

Predator: Badlands was pretty damn good. It was cool to see them expanding the lore for Predator culture, too.

Also, if anyone has read Harry Harrison's "Deathworld," the movie's exactly like that... except with Predators and synthetics.

I haven't kept up with comics much over the years, though, and I prefer Ennis's more serious writing (the Vietnam veteran war story in Preacher still sits with me to this day) vs. him lashing out at superhero tropes (which is fun, but in limited amounts), because when he's serious, he's soooo good.

He was one of the authors I enjoyed and was reading a lot of at the time (along with Alan Moore, etc.). I also liked a lot of artists he worked with, too, they had a great style, so sometimes I would take snapshots as reference for explaining the feel of a character or location.

He does wrap ups after each episode, highlighting the designs and decisions/backstory that went into them. Awesome stuff, and it’s great to see his work on the screen. : )

For any #Fallout fans out there, instagram.com/brenze70/ is doing a rundown on his Insta (and FB) on the elements he designed that are appearing in Season 2 of Fallout.

Ferret was a good guy, and I hope they continue to use his stuff as well.

Note that in the original 1st draft of Van Buren, Burham Springs was a "West Coast/West Half of U.S. location" (despite the fact the -reference- in the document is for Centralia, Penn.).

You've come a long way from Van Buren, Burning Springs, but at least you eventually saw the light of day #Fallout76

I seriously doubt that's actually what's happening, but it's possible. An answer from the show soon would be welcome, as the whole nature of ghouls in the Fallout world needs some anchoring. : /
