In terms of lore consistency, though, even Fallout 1 devs had differing takes on their own lore (ghouls) depending on which lead you spoke to, and I don't know if those differences were ever reconciled.

Fallout 1 is my standard. There are comical elements, but the threat of the Master, and the idea that "you've been changed, and can't go back home" is a tragedy, not a comedy. Tim Cain would probably be the final decider, though, not me.

When it was brought up it was kind of cool that those concepts were rooted in older lore (a plus), the answer was akin to, "yeah, but this is my deathclaw and I didn't incorporate any of that." It's also likely why Shady Sands got nuked.

This became apparent in a discussion about Deathclaw concept art several years back - an artist at Bethesda was showcasing some Deathclaw variants, I think.

I don't even mean that negatively - this is partly supported by the fact the internal directives at Bethesda are "to make Fallout their own" in the sense the franchise should be represented as Bethesda's. It's part of their marketing strategy.

Yeah, I believe they're trying to make the West their own, since they weren't comfortable doing anything there initially (I think had they done that, it would have required a lot of difficult research, and also, it would have risked a stronger reaction from fans had Fallout 3 taken place there).

It's a novel, too? Hell yes, it's on the list!

Not currently planning on it, doing the 1st one took a lot of time, but I felt it deserved a fair and thorough critique. Based on the trailers, I imagine S2 will be more of the same (which is fine).

(No spoilers if you reply, I’ve been running around a lot in the game doing random activities, but not much progress on the main plot, obviously.)

I have to commend Cyberpunk 2077 for having me view a cut scene by literally having my character hide inside a giant TV monitor and watching the scene play out from within.

The metaphors and irony of the whole thing is still blowing my mind.

Act 3 is suprisingly quick, I was unprepared for it, even with companion quests (I assumed it would be the same as the 1st two acts).

Haven't finished Act 2 yet, so I'll have to see. There's certain unspoken things happening with Verso that seem to merit attention (mostly through his expressions and what he's not saying).

Chinese Room had a rough job to take all those parts they were given and weld them together. The environments do look nice, though (some I recognize from the 1st attempt).

Kudos to the Chinese Room for trying to salvage Bloodlines 2, but several missteps from Hardsuit (the former devs) and Paradox occurred before it reached their hands, unfortunately. To this day, I couldn't tell you who actually made these calls. : (
