To all the radical women who have made the world better, especially those women who radicalized us, thank you.

Glasgow Central: Station remains closed in aftermath of fire Scotland's busiest station remains closed following a huge fire that destroyed a neighbouring building.

"A fire break between the Union Corner building - which was destroyed in the blaze - and the external wall of the station is thought to have stopped Sunday's inferno spreading further."

Opera is not dying, TimothΓ©e, it's thriving. In Europe alone, 14m a year attend (2.5m under 25s) worth €10bn. Since 2000 La Traviata had 30,000 performances. In its lifetime it's been seen by half a billion people and recorded 291 times. Check back in 180yrs to see how Marty Supreme is doing, yeah?

Business owners 'heartbroken' after retail units destroyed in Glasgow fire Union Corner was home to many independent businesses that have been left with nowhere to work after the building next to Glasgow Central Station collapsed.

I absolutely agree, Kieran. Bereft at how apolitical so much of our theatre is.

My point is only that your earlier translator chose to use the more direct 'about', rather than us knowing if Brecht did. Basically just using this reply as a chance to share Edwin's translation as I love it.

Every translator makes choices. Edwin Morgan's translation of the same Motto to the Svendborg Poems is

When the times darken
Will there be singng even then?
There will be singng even then
Of how the times darken.

Nuance, but it feels gentler and more collective?

Don't know how Glasgow city centre sustains another blow like this. The Egyptian Halls on Union Street - which had been scaffolded for decades and become this horrendously cursed bit full of, ironically, weird vape shops - had been slated for renovation. The street was about to get better. Now this.
