simply said, lacking malicious tone. that was probably even worse, because her soft voice was not mocking.

“this prison bound man, who is he to do such a thing? to touch a prince and only be in a cell…” and to not be killed immediately by aerion either. what a feat.

as if there were many reasons to be in the library.

she had not been sent away, but daenys knew her presence was not needed around her family at the moment.

so, the libraries became her refuge. she entered, immediately spotting one who she only vaguely remembered.

“lord devon?”

curious, perhaps wary.

“what are you doing?”

she was not unpopular in court, but she wasn’t well known. a targaryen princess she may be, but she was as quiet as any common maid.

that would not continue, for a small lunch was made to encourage those to talk with her.

daenys did not mind. she would enjoy company.

“and he did such a thing to you?” she wondered, concern clear.

surely he was, right? noble or a common man, his head would be on a spike.

“are you terribly hurt, brother? have you seen a maester?”

then, “what happened to your face, brother?”

ah, she finally asked.

a drawn out sigh, “unfortunately not.”

she watched the maid scurry, frightened to the point she didn’t even offer a greeting to either targaryen. she fetched the nut, and a trembly murmur was all she gave before leaving.

curious. genuine. brown eyebrows furrowed, dusted with the slightest white.

she did not obey, staring at the tip of the blade like no threat was there to see.

she never did seem wary of him, like so many others. many called it stupidity. others called it brave.

she was too 𝐥𝐚𝐳𝐲 to be fearful.

a slow blink, like she were doing it by mental reminder instead of instinct. as a babe she often blinked one eye at a time, akin to a confused lizard.

“do you expect to eat it once retrieved? even though it has touched the floor?”

it was daenys, lips curled downward in a frown as she spoke. one would think she were serious, if not for the amusement in her eyes. it wasn’t exactly mockery, but the teasing was close enough.

“there are no servants to fetch that for you, and i fear even the slightest movement may hurt you further.”

windfyre made a sound, perhaps sensing her riders anxieties. it mattered not, for daenys continued her flight with only a glance back towards aemond, keeping her dragons pace slow so he might catch up.

it wasn’t hard to notice aemond, for his dragon may be quiet but it was still 𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘦 ．

she wanted peace and companionship, and she worried aemond would provide neither.
