A person stands on stage addressing a large crowd gathered in Trafalgar Square for Diwali on the Square. Colourful tents and festival stalls fill the area behind the crowd, with the National Gallery visible in the background.
This is what one of the biggest Diwali celebrations outside of India looks like.

In the wake of the heinous terrorist attack at Heaton Park Synagogue, I know many in Londonβs Jewish community will be feeling afraid. My thoughts are with the families of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz at this terrible time. Places of worship should be sanctuaries and safe havens for all. No one should feel scared to attend their synagogue, church, mosque, gurdwara or temple. As we head into the weekend, there will be increased police presence in and around synagogues across the capital. Our Jewish communities must be able to live and worship free from the fear of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or violence. The fact they cannot do so is utterly unacceptable. It is clear that there is much more to do to rid our society of the poison of antisemitism, and we must redouble our efforts to stamp out this vile hatred wherever it rears its ugly head. Now, more than ever, Londoners from all communities must stand together, show allyship to our Jewish friends and neighbours, and be united in our rejection of hatred. MAYOR OF LONDON, SADIQ KHAN

Our chief executive @confedmatt.bsky.social told the BBC that new NHS league tables will help the public understand how the money invested in the NHS translates into performance, but the devil will be in the details.

A graphic of an iceberg, where above the surface there are examples of how our mental health system is in crisis. Under the surface, there are examples of societal causes of mental illness.
Until we address the issues under the surface, we will continue to see increased demand on overstretched public services.
