In some areas of the UK, the nearest 24/7 accessible defibrillator is over 10 minutes away. Each minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces the chance of surviving an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest by up to 10%.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Fauja's loved ones and all who were moved and inspired by his remarkable life. ❤️

Fauja was a proud member of East London’s Sikhs In The City running club, and raised thousands of pounds for Bliss, a charity that supports babies born prematurely.

In 2004 Fauja ran the London Marathon at the age of 93. Sporting a red British Heart Foundation top, Fauja chose to run the marathon representing BHF in honour of his friends who had taken up running after having heart attacks.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Fauja Singh, an incredibly inspiring man who was regarded to be the world's oldest marathon runner.
