I feel like a lot of post Hunger Games books feature one-note dystopias; Collins makes it clear the the Hunger Games are a sympton of the problems and not the cause, but a lot of later books don't do that as well. But in our reality everything is a problem and all the problems are connected.

Well if you're looking for an introduction to the series the original trilogy is pretty solid.
Personally I feel like The Force Awakens is a little smoother with stronger character building but the sequels are meh.
