I voted in this year's Eisner Awards. It was easy to apply to vote, and even easier to vote. I am honored to participate in this process, and look forward to doing so again.
There are some outstanding nominees this yearβgood luck to all of you. I am excited for what is to come.
My next event is on Saturday, May 3βthe national holiday Free Comic Book Day. Iβll present on comics and racial healing at Castle Perilous Games & Books in Carbondale, IL. My friend Isaac will lead an art workshop, and there will be comic creators onsite, slinging their wares. Plus, free comics!

These events will be the first in the St. Louis area where Iβll have copies of Relapse and On the House IV (I contributed to both books). Iβll also have other comics, as will Isaac and John. And we may have some unpublished work to check out. So make sure you visit us at least once that weekend.

Not to be outdone, QuadCon St. Charles will occur on Sunday, April 13 at the Steel Shop Event Center-entry is mere $5. Iβll have a table with @johnkingillustrations from 10-4pm (Isaac will be nearby at his own table for that day). QuadCon is always a lot of fun and Iβm excited to return.

The reason: to distribute fliers promoting my presentation on Illinois history and comics. I took more than half a dozen to regional comic/gaming shops, and am thrilled to see they actually posted the fliers.

With the new year comes new avenues to encounter Dirt Sheet. The first issue, Dirt Sheet: Beat Down, is now available for purchase at Bettyβs Books in St. Louis. Go buy a copy or three. And while youβre at it, support other local comic creators.

My 1st event of 2025 has just been announced. I will be delivering a presentation on Illinois' history and comics next month at Glen Carbon Centennial Library. Attendance is free. Come check out what I've been working on this year and learn about this state's rich history of comic strips and books.

Thanks to all who have shaped comics and Illinois for the better.

Today is also the birthday of the late Chester Gould. The creator of Dick Tracy, Gould proferred a model for superheroes preceding him. His Rogues Gallery is too populous to mention, but one member deserves attention: The Blank. Without this faceless baddie, the world would never have had Watchmen.

The Eisner Award-winning creator of Scary Godmother, she has created comics such as Wonder Woman, Batman, The Sandman, Hellboy. An incredible talent, her work deserves more praise.
