Happy to say that I'm actually playing BG3 now and ive actually gotten to the Grove now, never did before.

Welcome back Dur. One day I'll redraw him how I envision him, maybe with some BG3 flair, idk yet. But im happy to play him again.

Fast-forward to today. I knew BG3 was out and I tried to re-create Dur back when it released, but I never got that far. And BG3 Dur wasn't quite how I wanted either. But I did some modding last night and it's sticking now. Dur is now alive again and close enough to how I can get him with mods 18/?

And didn't realize how heavy of a nerf he gave me/Dur after that FIRST COMBAT ENCOUNTER, until I said I wanted out, because he loved how into character I'd get, the creativity I had and how well me and my characters got along with others.

He did other stuff too so we dont talk anymore. 17/?

Now my Ex got me into it when we were dating and we had LOADS of short lived campaigns and sessions before this one, and the XP issues never arose, only when I played Dur. He later lied when I learned of his XP bullshit from other players saying he said he was inexperienced (he said he was) 16/?

So that got dropped too. Dur was an character in that campaign and my players LOVED him, called him "dad".

I quit DnD as in my area it's not safe as a queer woman to join these other groups and I dont want to be hit on when I'm out as a lesbian.

Poor Dur collects dust with my dice. 15/?

When are we continuing the other campaign? I can host it when we do. Ex explains that it's never going to happen because people love the evil campaign more now, so sorry but that's why.

I was crushed and quit playing, only briefly DMing a campaign myself that schedules didn't align for- 14/?

I can't get a ride and even if i could I'd have no ride home and am expected to sleep on the couch of a strange man innthe middle of the woods till my dad can get me the next day. YIKES, no thanks and I back out while I can because really WTF man?

We have a few other random one shots while waiting for schedules to align. I go back for my second year and am forced to drop out due to financial reasons I was lied to about. I'm ready for DnD but my Ex has an evil campaign starting and dictates who and what I'll play. Not that I can join as 12/?

A year passes, only our monk is available along with my brother and a friend from school, so we do a soft relaunch, it goes well and the monks happy to see Dur again as they're best buds. Ex says next session is the reunion. I can't wait. 11/?

Be at the same level and things. Could be reballanced. I accepted and said I'd aim for the next summer to be completely available as we only had maybe 5 sessions a year.

So I got to work with an expanded backstory and my EX let me use ideas I had to toughen Dur up to lv 10 as the rest of the 10/?

Freaked out and tried to save him, and succeeded. At the end of the session, I announced that I wanted out due to the situation and that I had been accepted to collage again so I wished Dur could have had his send off. My EX however proposed a solution: a timeskip so everyone could once again 9/?

I wanted out of the campaign. We faced the BBEG and he ended up fleeing but not before Dur tried to sacrifice himself to allow the party (now totaling 4 after our rogue player was tossed out) to escape. A fitting end for him IMO. However the gravity of the XP situation kicked in and everyone 8/?

Out if game, I was the one providing 85-90% of the snacks and financially it was starting to hurt me, especially as I had to get a ride to sessions (and missed 2 due to work), so in August 2016 I had had enough. My ex and the others FINIALLY realized the XP issue but it was too late now. 7/?

Eventually I spoke up and our Paladin told me to start judging my XP numbers because I was either doing something wrong or that things were unbalanced. I mentioned the situation to my EX who reminded folks that he was tracking XP and cheaters would be thrown out. My XP and math was correct. 6/?

sessions, so level ups only occurred when we were leveling up leading to folks forgetting to choose abilities, feats etc. This soon became apparent as other the level gap between me and other players grew and I was half their level, which made combat issues even WORSE. This continued for months 5/?

so he was never able to get a kill shot again while the 4 other players got at least 1. They also got special quests, items, recipes and experience, Dur never got anything outside a sparing session with a possible love interest, but got NO XP. Even worse, my ex only awarded XP at the end of- 4/?

My Ex did his XP wrong. Instead of characters getting X amount of XP when an enemy was slain, he divided it up across each player and added a kill shot bonus to the player who made the final blow. However every combat encounter after that one, Dur was knocked out first, so he couldn't fight- 3/?

We started in a Blood Swamp and ended up inna bar fight with 8 enemies. I rolled high and using a single (fire) breath weapon, Dur took out 4/8 enemies and severely burned a 5th enemy. After that I was heavily and unfairly nerfed HARD by my ex and things eventually went really bad for me. 2/?

10 years ago, I played DnD with my ex (as our DM) and our friends. I ended up creating one of my longest played and favorite characters, a dragonborn Fighter, Du'Hirven. He AT THE TIME had a weird Russian like accent, because of his Draconic, and I enjoyed playing as him back in the day. 1/?
