Good Sunday morning! Highs flirt with 50 today, an acceptable start to March despite the cool breeze.
We lurch back to winter tomorrow with a chance of light snow midday into evening; ma Can't rule out a very light accumulation. We're watching a wintry mix chance tomorrow night.

CWG Live: Climatological winter ends on a springlike note
This warmth is brief, with wintrier weather possible early next week. But then 70 by late week?
Many places go above 60 today for one of the few times in recent months.
Temperatures step down again Sunday and it's cold to start the work week. Some wintry mix possible, focusing on Tuesday. Not much snow.

High temperature forecast for Saturday shows a lot of 60 and higher except in northern MD and near the chillier bay.
Warmest day of climatological winter on its final day? Maybe. DC needs 63 or higher. It'll be close.
Fewest days in the 60s in winter in more than a decade with four so far. Often see our first 70 already. That could come late next week.

Update on potentially wintry systems early next week:
A potential system Mon-Mon evening has trended drier. Too soon to say it won't snow, but that's possible. If it does snow, it's probably 1-2" at most.
Light wintry mix possible late Mon night-Tue AM, but only if precip arrives early enough.

D.C. finds itself in a snow hole (again)
These maps tell the story... Places north and south of us have seen above average snow this winter. We're a bit below normal in DC -- mainly because we missed out two big storms that passed to our north and south. (1/2)

CWG Live: Mild to warm with mainly bright skies the next few days
Around 60 Saturday, but snow and a wintry mix remain in the forecast for Monday.
Mild today and springlike warmth for Saturday.
It doesn't last as we'll see temperatures dip again Sunday ahead of an early week wintry mix threat. Not a big storm but the focus on that is still Monday-early Tuesday but could linger beyond.

Snow or wintry mix is possible Monday-Monday night. The system doesn't look terribly strong, but could have enough moisture to produce accumulating snow if it comes close enough to give us precip. It could also miss to the south. No snow to a few inches seems like the potential range as of now.

CWG Live: A couple showers possible today. Sunnier the next several.
It should be around 60 Saturday, but snow is in the forecast for Monday.
Some showers in the region today, especially midday to mid-afternoon. Could be a snowflake mixed in north, but better odds of steadier precipitation south.
Warmer next few days after today. Until Monday, when some light snow is a decent bet.

Wintry setup early next week more consolidated in today's weather modeling: Focus now Mon or Mon night.
Cold air and some models flirting w/ plowable snow. Our winter weather expert says theyβre likely overcooked. Current look more like dusting to a few inches zone. Expect tweaks.

While there is little to no chance of impactful snow in the DC area Thursday, there is still a lack of model consensus as to exactly what will happen.
A period of steady rain mixed with a bit of wet snow north, just a chance of a few light showers, or the precip missing to the south are in play.

* Every month has been colder than normal
* Snow on the ground longer than normal

Comparison of model outputs for Monday and Tuesday show varied forms of wintry weather in the DC region.
Not done yet! Wintry weather waves possible early next week. Mon: snow/mix? Tue: mixβrain? Confidence is all of this is currently low.
Cold air could be stout and stubborn. Potential impact seems maybe light to moderate.
Details WILL change, because of course they will.
