Starting off in the 60s this morning -- coolest since at least June 20. It's going to be a beautiful day!

🌧️⚠️ Most of the region saw rain today, but totals were highly variable — from under 0.1" to over 4".

Flash flooding hit hardest in swaths near Mt. Airy, North Bethesda, and Burke.

7:30pm: Most rain has move out of DC area and the Flash Flood Watch and Severe Thunderstorm Watch have both been canceled

6:28pm: Back edge of what seems to be last somewhat solid band of moderate to heavy rain is now in DC’s western burbs and moving east. Should see activity taper west to east across DMV 7-8pm. Scattered lighter showers, maybe an isolated heavier shower, may linger later. #cwgalert

5:55 pm: New round of storms moving into the immediate area. Not as intense as prior round, but flooding downpours remain a risk until this activity passes. Especially so in the earlier flood warning areas. #cwgalert

Quite an impressive band of training storms from east of Frederick to Towson with some spots of up to 4" of rain in the hour ending at 5:30 pm near Mt. Airy. Likely some really rough travel conditions along I-70 and in the northern Baltimore suburbs. #mdwx

5:10 pm: Several flooding reports between Potomac and Glen Echo. Just crossed the wire:

"Numerous water rescues ongoing along River Rd. Near the Beltway along Cabin John Creek. Water is at least six inches to a foot deep and flowing." cwg.live

5:06 pm: Severe storm warning parts of Howard, Frederick and Montgomery counties until 5:30 pm. Includes Damascus, Clarksburg, Laytonsville. Wind gusts to 60 mph possible along with torrential rain and a flash flooding risk. Moving southeast. #cwgalert

Flash Flood Warning including Towson MD, Woodlawn MD and Randallstown MD until 7:30 PM EDT

Severe Thunderstorm Warning including Frederick MD, Urbana MD and Brunswick MD until 5:00 PM EDT

Flash Flood Warning including Silver Spring MD, Bethesda MD and McLean VA until 7:15 PM EDT #cwgalert

3:38pm: New Flash Flood Warning here in northern Fairfax and SW Montgomery counties where you can see heavy rain has erupted. Includes Great Falls and Potomac until 6:45pm. Rain rate of 2-3 in/hr possible. Delay travel! #cwgalert

3:30 pm: Even as heavy storms threaten flash flooding this afternoon, we know some of you want to know when this will end. Not necessarily a high-confidence forecast, but we think storms taper from NW to SE between 7-8pm and 10pm.

2:55pm: This Flash Flood Warning until 5:45pm in east-central Anne Arundel County includes Annapolis. 1-2 inches of rain could fall in 30 minutes causing flash flooding. Turn around, don’t drown! #cwgalert

2:40pm: Overlapping Flash Flood Warning (green) and Severe T’storm Warning (yellow) from northern Prince George’s into western Anne Arundel counties. The Severe T’storm Warning, for possible damaging winds, goes til 3pm. Flash Flood Warning goes until 5:15pm but could be canceled earlier. #cwgalert
