A very fascinating paper went up on the arXiv today!

Jesse Han & El-Badry et al. reanalysed the 21 known 'hypervelocity' stars in the #milkyway.

They find strong evidence that the LMC (Large Milky/Magellanic Cloud) has a supermassive black hole at its core! 🤯 arxiv.org/abs/2502.00102

Ein ganz eigenes Genre ist das öffentliche Selbstlob von SPD-Politiker:innen für geschaffte Abschiebesteigerung und Asylrückgang, als wären es gute Ergebnisse bei Bundesjugendspielen. Wie weit diese Debatte in Inhalt und Ton längst wie von der AfD geschrieben ist, merkt kaum jemand noch.

Insb. geflüchtete Frauen nicht besser zu schützen, ist von Konservativen besonders verlogen, prangern sie doch regelmäßig die vermeintliche patriarchale Kultur anderer Länder an, unter der Frauen besonders leiden. Hier wird klar, wie geflüchtete Frauen für Rassismus instrumentalisiert werden.

Merz und seine CDU/CSU haben für ein populistisches Wahlkampfmanöver die Rechtsextremen normalisiert und extremistische Politik hoffähig gemacht. Die Rechtsextremen jubeln - sie haben die Bedeutung dieses Tages schon verstanden. Ein historischer und unverzeihlicher Sündenfall.

Wenn Historiker*innen sich irgendwann die Augen reiben & fragen, wie die Rechtsradikalen wieder so schnell an die Macht kommen konnten, lautet spätestens ab heute die Antwort: das konservative Lager hat ein zweites Mal versagt. Der bürgerlichen Mitte war die Demokratie einfach nicht wichtig genug.
