Congress clears GOP-led immigration enforcement bill, with Democrats on board
The Laken Riley Act would make it easier for federal immigration officials to detain and deport those without legal status who are charged with specific crimes.
Under Laken-Riley, undocumented immigrants accused of even minor crimes such as shoplifting can be detained or deported without due process or conviction. And it passed with significant *bipartisan* support.
There is no innocent party in this new "broken tail light" law.
