This next week will be the final production pass on Rook & the Crook before it gets sent to print. A massive thank you to Alexey Gorboot, @vaultcrawler.bsky.social, @zazb.bsky.social, Corkboards & Curiosities, and @pablodap.bsky.social for helping me bring this dungeon to life!!!
Thank you!!!
My adventure Downward Spiral of the Lost got reviewed by the cool people of Between Two Cairns!!! Give it a listen! ✨
That's all I think, but don't hesitate to ask any other questions y'all could have.
All the feedback is taken and processed, and again, a ton of thanks for taking a look at it and showcasing it!!! 🫶
And in that puzzle, the particular direction of travel (up or down) doesn't matter, just that the PCs change direction at the intervals indicated by the clues. Otherwise it would be too obtuse to solve haha
As for the ways to exit the loop, funnily enough the extra ways to escape didn't come up in play test. I just thought I should include options for players that either weren't getting the puzzle or just wanted to experiment. But all groups solved the puzzle and got out by breaking the curse.
You guys were also asking for clarification with the spawning of Unique Rooms. Yes, they can spawn again later, and they will keep whatever state the PCs left them in. However, they cannot reappear while they are already spawned, that's why the "take the next result" rule is in place.
Perhaps I could've made that idea clearer, but I don't mind if DMs make it their own.
In play testing there were players that calmed him down and even recruited him, while others just killed him. There's also certain items that lucky PCs can find that can sway that interaction one way or the other.
After that pass I went over it again to fix issues with the format change and wrote a couple of new rooms!
About the minotaur perhaps being another talky NPC, the intention was him starting angry and aggressive, and depending how the party deal with him or treat him it can go in different ways.
I did the layout and design, but Taron gave me a needed hand when preparing the final version. The jam one was made in Photoshop and in A5, but the final one was made in InDesign and is Half Letter. He helped me port and set up the file, since I had never used InDesign before.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and review my adventure! It means a lot coming from y'all, you guys made my week!!! 🔥
There were some questions that were raised during your talk, so I might as well answer them down here!
Questing Beast reviewed Downward Spiral of the Lost this week and had very nice things to say about it! ✨

Last day to get into this campaign! Vagabond is an awesome gem of a game with one of the most interesting magic systems out there and super customizable character building! 🔥
I'm currently polishing and putting the finishing touches on the adventure, and when I'm done with that I'll set up an Itchio page for it. Thanks for your interest!

In that case, in Jarkko's last moments he rolls over, tries getting the crossbowmen's attention, rummages through several pockets and finally pulls out a severed hand giving the middle finger, expiring with a half grin 🫠
NOOOOOOOO! 💀 But wait, my Alignment is Even and the roll was 54, I thought that meant I'd save?
Jarkko puts his hands in two of his hundred pockets and shouts to the crossbowmen above "Wanna see a magic trick?", as he pulls the two most generous fistfuls of sawdust and pocket sand this land has ever seen and "SHALAKABLAM!"... chucks them at the eyes of the closest guards to blind them.
Jarkko secretly checks one of his hundred pockets and unfurls a crumpled paper. A leaflet? Can't let him know you're a Dubois fan or it'll go straight to his head...
Bless him if you wanna check the contents of one of his pockets and/or you believe in freedom of speech in the Dreamland.
