The fact that violence could reach them here, and personally one of my students, tears at my heart. These students, more than any at any college campus I’ve been on, purposely avoid violence.

If you pray as I do, please pray for all the kids affected by this.

There are 107 HBCUs in the country. These students choose Lincoln for an opportunity to hunker down and learn. There’s no downtown to walk to or bars, just the quiet borough of Oxford and beautiful farmland.

The student I know who was hit, is like many at Lincoln I’ve come across in my three years teaching there; smart, funny, and focused. Most of my students aren’t from the area, some are, but many are from New York, Philly, Maryland or somewhere in between.

I’ve been texting one of my students from the hospital. She’s in good spirits and has non life threatening injuries.

These are good kids; on Tuesday we are planning to go to the capital, breakfast with the democrats and lunch with the republicans. They were going to solve the budget crisis.

My heart is breaking.

It was a blast having my students from Lincoln University of PA in West Chester. They got to meet and ask questions of judges, the Chester County District Attorney, the Public Defender, and many more leaders. Most of the students are members of the Thurgood Marshall Law Society.

This new ordinance does a lot on a small budget, just $500. It's worth it. Chester County should be a place where everyone is welcome and loved.

Some of these protections are already in place in various federal and state laws; now they're all consolidated here locally, making them more accessible. Additionally, we added protections for survivors of sexual and domestic abuse.

I'm incredibly proud. This headline says a lot, but it's not the whole story. Yesterday, Chester County took an important and emotional step to codify protections for veterans, people of faith, gender, race, and sexuality.

Upgrades that prevented the escape included new comprehensive cameras, additional staff, razor ribbon in more locations, and a substantial amount of new training for staff.

Someone tried to escape the County prison yesterday. They were immediately thwarted by incredibly well-trained staff. They also encountered, and became entangled in, the first of many new security measures that would prevent some from escaping the facility.
