No, sheโs still a light lyric.

I bet they feel a right melon.
I didnโt love all the arrangements (particularly the rather astringent arrangement of the Ravel; and given that the chamber group was the Doric String Quartet, we heard relatively little string playing), but Louise Alder was in delectable voice throughout this concert.

Dandy was in glorious voice and she excelled in both the lighter โWiegenliedโ (a delight), & the moving โScheidenโ. โHerbstgefรผhlโ was another highlight, beautifully performed by Pierce & Tindale, the piano part - so reminiscent of Schubert to me - particularly exquisite. ๐
19.11.2023 23:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Though Iโve heard a few Josephine Lang songs in recital before, thanks go to Ian Tindale, Jess Dandy & Rowan Pierce for giving me a much more in-depth understanding of the life & works of this unjustly neglected composer. There were so many gems that deserve to be programmed! ๐
19.11.2023 23:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Tonightโs concert at Conway Hall:
Rowan Pierce replaces an indisposed Harriet Burns, and joins Jess Dandy and Ian Tindale in a programme which mainly features songs by Josephine Lang
We werenโt allowed to take pictures of the small Windrush exhibition in the National Portrait Gallery , but itโs well worth a visit. And hereโs a few more pics from the Gallery.
Amazing to think that an American musical with an all-black cast toured the UK in 1903

18.11.2023 01:43 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0A wonderful & moving celebration of the music of Herbert Howells, with astoundingly fine singing by the BBC Singers (jaw dropping to think we nearly lost them to the BBC axe this year), directed by Nicholas Chalmers (when Ed Balls didnโt step in!). Thrilling organ playing by Ashley Grote too.
