I propose the inverse h-number, which is the max number of papers that cite your paper, that have more cites than your paper.

Wow I think this is a first. No new cond-mat.super-con submissions.

Research scholar program Overview

If you're an early-career faculty member (received their PhD within seven years of submission) in quantum computing, consider applying to Google's Research Scholar Program. The application process is lightweight and the grant comes in the form of an unrestricted gift.

Demonstrating dynamic surface codes A remarkable characteristic of quantum computing is the potential for reliable computation despite faulty qubits. This can be achieved through quantum error correction, which is typically implemented ...

2 years ago I got nerd sniped into thinking about doing surface code QEC using iSWAPs, @craiggidney.bsky.social and I both found nice constructions. Craig and @mattmcewen.bsky.social pushed this even further. Today the Google team put a paper demoing these ideas IRL arxiv.org/abs/2412.14360

Over the past year I played a supporting role on experiments showing we have a flexibility in how we do QEC on a planar chip. We do a color code (arxiv.org/abs/2412.14256), and three interesting variations of the surface code circuit (arxiv.org/abs/2412.14360), all below threshold.

Scaling and logic in the color code on a superconducting quantum processor Quantum error correction is essential for bridging the gap between the error rates of physical devices and the extremely low logical error rates required for quantum algorithms. Recent error-correctio...

Two (!) papers today from Google QuantumAI: color code arxiv.org/abs/2412.14256 and dynamic surface codes arxiv.org/abs/2412.14360 both experimentally demonstrate beyond break-even QEC on Willow. @juliankelly.bsky.social @amorvan.bsky.social @aeickbusch.bsky.social Kevin, Alex, and the whole team!

Meet Willow, our state-of-the-art quantum chip Our new quantum chip demonstrates error correction and performance that paves the way to a useful, large-scale quantum computer.

🌳 Excited to introduce Willow, Google Quantum AI’s latest chip. Willow 5x’s coherence times, beats the Surface Code QEC threshold, and the time to reproduce Willow's RCS on Frontier supercomputer is estimated at 10^25 years⏳! πŸ‘‡ thread #Quantum #Physics #Science
