Unlike previous oil wars renewable energy is now available at scale. It's distributed, diversified and resilient. And solar panels don’t blow up; once they're in place you don’t need ships to constantly feed them to make energy.

The sun is looking like a pretty stable energy source right now.

Drones are hitting Saudi oil fields, Qatar halting LNG production, Iran putting a squeeze on the Strait of Hormuz and US attack on Iran’s Kharg Island oil terminals-- all of it should be a wake up call that fossil fuel phase out is a national and energy security priority.

Reykjavik is once again demonstrating what it means to be a climate leader!

Iceland stands on the frontlines of the climate crisis and this endorsement sends a clear message: addressing fossil fuel production must be part of the solution.

Why has climate action has fallen off the political agenda?

Not because people don’t care! According to @yaleclimatecomm.bsky.social Americans are as concerned now as they were in 2019.

No. Decisionmakers are retreating because the right wing is going after them full bore & they are folding.

Trump is literally trying to bully countries to deny climate change. First the IMO and now this.

That can’t actually be stupid enough to not it’s happening with the planet literally on fire or flooding. So what’s the game here?

It's the final day to purchase an NDP membership and be eligible to vote in the leadership race.

Only $15 to support a candidate who will stand up to corporate interests and protect what matters most to us.

Top polluters controlled by nations that blocked fossil fuel phaseout Many state-owned fossil fuel firms that emitted the highest levels of pollution in 2024 went on to block a phaseout roadmap at COP30.

It’s worth saying again: this data proves that fossil fuel firms are actively sabotaging climate action and weakening government ambition.

A fossil fuel treaty is not merely an option, but the indispensable mechanism to hold these giants accountable.

Prime Minister Carney just said what needed to be said and I hope it shocks people out of defensive isolation and pandering to the bully. Worth listening to…

I think it might be the most important political speech I have witnessed in my lifetime.

Over the past six months I have been disappointed in Carneys backtracking on climate and expansion of fossil fuels but tonight I am glad I voted for him and proud to be Canadian.

The new #CarbonMajors report exposes the real political barriers to fossil fuel phase out. These polluters are powerful and persistent, not to mention profitable.

And their emissions are the cause of the deadly heat waves, floods, fires, and storms that kill thousands every year

I'm delighted to endorse Avi for NDP leader.

He is smart, principled, and a force of nature. His commitment to building power for progressives in Canada is critical to strengthen the NDP.

Avi's vision for a safer, cleaner and more just Canada couldn't come at a more important moment in history.

Just a quick reminder this afternoon that no one has ever invaded a country or taken their leader hostage to steal their solar panels. Added bonus: a solar spill? Just a sunny day.

Actually a small percentage of effort into supply versus demand if you look at capacity and funding and time. And less than half of the history if you date back to Kyoto. The pipeline campaigns have been only since 2012 and ran for only 10 years.

It’s not an either or Max. Given the science we need to both stop expansion and encourage clean. We need absolute emissions and production decline. We have tried for 30!years to cut with one half of the scissors demand and not supply. How’s that working for us so far?

The treatment of Jacob Pirro and Olivier Huard, two peaceful climate defenders, by the courts is a brutal attack on democratic rights.

We cannot allow this dangerous repression of civil disobedience to go any further.

“In Dubai in 2023, Canada, the UK, and 190 countries agreed for the first time to transition away from fossil fuels. You do not ‘phase out’ something by building more of it. A pipeline enabling 1m additional barrels a day pushes Canada in the opposite direction of what it has already promised.”

Canada’s environmental ‘realism’ looks more like surrender | Tzeporah Berman At a time when the UK and other countries are finally taking bold steps for climate, Canada is preparing a new oil pipeline

Mark Carney built a reputation on linking economic instability with climate inaction. Now he’s made a deal with the very industries driving the crisis.

This isn't Canadian leadership, it’s cowardice disguised as pragmatism.
