Finished Ghost of Tsushima and all I can is what a fucking amazing game. Its visuals are gorgeous, the combat is incredible, and Jin is one of my favorite protagonists ever, he’s so well written.

Watched the first episodes for Apothecary Diaries S2 and Sakamoto Days. AD was great as expected and Maomao is as funny as always. Sakadays was much better than I thought it would be. The animation is rough, but it somehow works and I really liked it. Hoping it keeps the momentum going.

I just got a Ninja Creami Ice Cream maker and it is very much worth the hype. You can throw literally anything into it and get good ice cream. The one downside is you gotta freeze whatever you’re making overnight but most things only take 5 minutes to prep so very little active time in the kitchen

Comics is a whole other ballgame. The popular shit is all DC/Marvel but the movies don’t get people to read comics the way anime do manga. Theres normal comics but they don’t get adapted and won’t ever be popular. Also monthly releases will just never be as big as weekly, mangas always get new stuff
2D Western animation is a tiny market, there’s not much that gets made and people who want animated content do turn to anime. I won’t disagree that a lot have bad animation, but not at a % that’s much higher than anime imo, there’s just so few it can’t be judged broadly

Binged the U20 arc episodes for Blue Lock S2. The production quality is still shit but it was actually enjoyable since the arc itself was good, unlike 3rd Selection which was a slog. The final segment of the game was amazing, imagine if the entire show had that level of animation 😭
Finished Squid Game S2. Not as good as S1 and I have a lot of gripes here and there, but it’s still great. The cliffhanger ending lowkey didn’t bother me too much, S3 has a lot of ground to cover though because there were plot lines introduced that really didn’t move forward much at all.

Recommending shit is easy since Crunchyroll has 90% of shows and a lot of people pirate so access to everything. Keeping up with the few seasonals worth watching is super easy and takes no time commitment.
I think a big reason why anime is popular because it’s a very “graspable” medium. You can watch for a couple years and have seen most big/popular shows and have huge overlap with other anime fans so there’s a lot to discuss. Episodes are only 20 minutes and most shows are quick watches at 4-8 hours
Imagine if I as a straight man said that I wouldn’t date a woman who’s been with a man before, that’d be fucked up. Yet you can change the genders and that’s suddenly somehow a perfectly reasonable explanation to not date a bi man?

And the justifications I’ve seen are actually insane, like assuming they’re likely to cheat/have STDs, or just straight up saying it’s “weird” or “unmanly” for a man to fuck another man
Perfect is a very strong word but I think Frieren is a perfect anime. I can’t even think of a single point of criticism, everything about it was amazing from start to finish.
Watching it every week felt like a lifechanging experience for me.
