Right?? Love that it was shrouded in mystery, the whole situation of [redacted]. And Peter ended up recreating the whole Christian story by accident, that was well played and you have to wonder about the parallels

I'm done! I feel like I'm quoting the cover, but it is raw human sci-fi. The way Faber played with the christian motifs was clever, and the guy really knows how to be subtle with human emotions. There's a couple of things that I still find problematic about the book, but overall I enjoyed it!

Michel Faber's The Book of Strange New Things has a raw way of telling you that, even if we vie for a just, equitable world, maybe it's not in our human nature to have it:
"You want Paradise, you gotta build it on war, on blood, on envy and naked greed."

Sure is! More of a minister than a priest trying to survive Planet Extreme-tropic. It's slow going but a really human tale. Faber knows how to illustrate the less glamorous parts of a person's mind (especially the male mind, doesn't seem to go much into the female point of view from what I've read)
