Exactly. Most studies showing that fungi are more resistant to drought come from less disturbed systems such as grasslands. Cropping systems are often more disturbed (e.g. by tillage), which could disrupt the fungal network and exacerbate the response. In fact, we mention this in section 4.4.

Therefore, even the conventional systems include some regenerative practices and comparison with more divergent systems (e.g. no-till, monocultures, etc.) could lead to different results.
