21.02.2026 22:12 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I am fine with adaptations that cover different tonal or thematic ground than their source material, but "triumphant, heroic atom bomb" is tasteless. People are willing to give a lot of stuff a pass if it's accompanied by a track as good as "Yuusou"
21.02.2026 21:50 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0GETTER ROBO ARMAGEDDON (1998): When the Stoner Sunshine is used in Ishikawa's manga it is spiritual horror, the atom bomb as a hole torn through the fabric of karma. Half the cast rendered catatonic. Here, it's a Kamehameha Wave. I think it is reprehensible to ask people to "believe in the Getter"

19.02.2026 19:43 โ ๐ 37 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Straight up I will make the jump if somebody can show me a functional implementation of this for a ED character controller. You try to look it up and it's years of people asking about this exact problem, and getting bandaid fixes for now-outdated versions of the engine. Goin nuts here!!

1999 JP cartoon: Kids are trapped in Computer Dragon World. The girls get cute fairy monsters & the boys get dinosaur trucks. They fight for their lives & mourn their dead
1999 US cartoon: Mushy animals with human teeth do extreme sports. They fart & then learn a lesson about having divorced parents
As a child, I pored over the technical specs of various Zeon mobile suits. As an adult, I outgrew these things, and instead pored over the history of midcentury Japanese labor movements and how they informed early mecha anime production. All very fascinating trivia, of equally marginal utility
17.02.2026 19:12 โ ๐ 16 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The secret to my outsized fondness for detective fiction (and to a lesser extent, westerns) is that it is also genre pulp, but the production about tired men in suits has a lot more superficial dignity than the one about latex monster puppets. Lets me pretend I'm eating my greens
