A good band trying to get away from the bad places. You've never heard of us but somehow we're on Wikipedia. Returning To Earth on vinyl and mimeograph, April 2026 #IndieMusic https://sleep-ins.one28.us https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sleep-ins

Our first album Songs About Girls & Outer Space was released fifteen years ago today. We were on the way to play a show in Raleigh NC.

The album charted on what was then the CMJ 200 and the song 'Silver State' got a film placement. The band made enough money to each buy their own small microwave.

one thing I did almost completely throughout my career as a band-former is not hesitate to get some kind of gig booked as soon as there were three or more people in the same room making something that sounded like music

play as many gigs as you can because that's how you get better at playing gigs

I don't know who needs to hear this but you're allowed to be a fan of your own work

why would you report this with Trump's frame of the agenda when the agenda is not "America First" or even competent?

I'm also in a band, we've been working on an album (for 15 years) that will be released later this year.

We've been successful on paper, you can read about it on Wikipedia if you want.

The band is the Sleep-ins - @sleep-ins.bsky.social
Just set up on Pixelfed - pixelfed.social/sleepins

Thanks

Patience is the Key (Song of the Bullfighter) by kingsizemidget

Later the same day after everyone was gone, I went back and edited the trumpet parts, and copied some phrases to fill out the end, and well here it is:

Tying a bow on this thread🧡...

The way we tackled the trumpet parts was phrase by phrase. We'd play a bit of the song, I'd hammer out notes on the piano and say, "play that." We'd record him playing it and move on to the next phrase.

Even though we didn't finish the song I had enough to finish.

Things were now completely out of hand as there may have been more drunk people than sober in the session. We were so close to done, but I knew there was no longer any hope of accomplishing anything further.

So I called it a day on drunken trumpet.

Things were going great, and we had gotten about 2/3 of the way through the song when one of my partners in the studio, also an extremely talented musician and producer, walked into the session.

Which would've been fine, except he was also extremely drunk. And just bursting to offer his own advice.

Instead of getting him right in front of a microphone to put down a track, we sat with him and played the tune while we gave him drinks. We explained what we wanted, which was a kind of Ennio Morricone bullfighter theme, but drunk.

As soon as we noticed he was slurring, we got a mic on him.

#weirdsessions

I was in Sydney working with my friend Mike Johnson, AKA kingsizemidget, on his second album. We had a track that needed a specific kind of trumpet: drunken trumpet. So I called a friend of mine who was a trumpet player I thought might work and asked him to come up to the studio.

Since we're recording an album, I'm going to talk about recording albums.

And when I do, since many if not all of the recording sessions have been weird, I'm going to use #WeirdSessions.

Hate Club 1488 is the name of the group that marched through Columbus, Ohio are led by former Blood Tribe/GDL member Anthony Altick, aka Combat Carl.

He murdered a black man in 2015.

This is not anti-semitism alone it’s about eradicating anyone that is opposed to a white ethnostate.
