Elon Musk has just become the first person with a net worth of over $400 billion.

He was the biggest donor in the 2024 election cycle, and his wealth has skyrocketed since Trump’s victory.

So I finished Arcane yesterday and I'm surprisingly ok already. The night was rough but I expected NGE levels of emotional damage.
I guess I'm getting old or a critical mass of prosac has finally accumulated in my body.

Mental fallacy of the day:

Free Lunch Syndrome - This is the expectation that resources, products, or services should continue to be provided for free indefinitely once they have been received at no cost initially.

Mental fallacy of the day:

Halo Effect - When we see an agreeable characteristic in someone, we often assume other agreeable characteristics in them. Example: if I see a person with a hat that says "♥️ dogs" I tend to assume that they are decent and empathetic.

Assholes can also like dogs.

Mental fallacy of the day:

Belief Bias - We are more prone to accept flawed argument if it results in conclusion that we agree with. It means that we tend to judge an argument’s validity not by it's merits but by how strongly we support the conclusion.

But in the end this "dynamic" often leads me to withhold my true thoughts to avoid upsetting others, turning me into a superficial yes-man even if I have a strong opinion about the topic. [4/4]

I don't have a point here, I'm just complaining.

P.S. Therapy is really good for most people.

Maybe acknowledging that therapy has limitations feels inherently threatening to their chances of success, so people prefer to believe I'm still searching for the right fit, and they get angry if I don't agree with them. [3/4]

I think this reaction might stem from the fear that therapy might not work for them either? I understand that many people put their hopes in the therapy process and hearing about potential disappointment can be disheartening. [2/4]

I often observe that simple statements like "therapy doesn't fix everything" can cause a lot of anger in the people I speak with. When I mention that therapy doesn't work for me personally, people suggest it's (my fourth) therapist's fault and urge me to keep looking. [1/4]
