04.08.2025 12:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Quay is a quack, a liar and a conspiracist hiding behind his expertise in an unrelated field to give a patina of plausibility to his lab leak fantasies. His thesis of genetic engineering is laughable to anyone who has ever worked with RNA viruses.
04.08.2025 12:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Quay is a crank. He starts for a conclusion and works backwards. As he has no idea of the actual virology his assumptions are all BS. Therefore he gets the answer he wants
04.08.2025 05:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is the point. Though it pains me to say, as a scientist in his field he is immensely accomplished. But that doesnβt mean he is (as he clearly believes) infallible. Ironically the papers he rails against as βfraudβ by βstoogesβ may have detractors, but have so far resisted all serious punches.
03.08.2025 19:09 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What is lamentable (and this applies to many senior bacteriologists in my recent experience) is that he doesnβt see that the same BioSafety and biosecurity issues that virologists have to deal with are exactly the same for him. And selecting drug resistance in pathogenic bacteria is GoF.

30.07.2025 15:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Indeed, but that doesnβt mandate equal probability of a lab leak. The multiple lines of existing data is sufficient to make a compelling case for the market as the epicenter of SC2 emergence. Ultimately there is no evidence for the lab that is compatible with the existing data.
30.07.2025 15:24 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0More than 3yrs down the line this has held up surprisingly well, very much because of @lewan.bsky.social prescience borne from climategate and previous clashes with USRTK

Apparently @gidmk.bsky.social has βshirts for brainsβ according to the Rutgers misogynist rage tweeter and BSNow CiC. Seemingly because he has the temerity to look at the data and conclude that there is no evidence for a lab leak.
I do hope that the shirts are loud with a Raccoon Dog print on them.

Excellent article laying out the inexperience , inadequacy, incapability and downright idiocy of the conspiracy lunatics that that JB has surrounded himself with.
One small correction. Washburneβs unpublished article is not controversial, it is fraudulent
Again this is what happens when you put idiots in charge of HHS and NIH, and those with concerns not having sensible discussions on the facts about high containment research, but instead throwing their lot in with the conspiracists and face eating leopards. I have no sympathy for Relman or Lipsitch

What, are you saying Edward Hammond, Bryce Nickels, Alex Washburne and Memoli are fucking idiots pursuing ideological vendettas under the guidance of their mentor in chief Ebright?

Good discussion about GAVI but please @alastaircampbell2.bsky.social RFKjr is NOT a vaccine skeptic. He is an antivax activist. He hides behind this mantra of being only for βvaccine safetyβ. But he is destroying global progress achieved by completely safe vaccines
