I'm starting to fear that the answer will be "Gaza."

This whole Iran thing is so weird. They made no effort whatsoever to gather public support or establish a cause, just there it is. I've never seen anything like it.

An argument I've seen a lot (usually from very small accounts admittedly) here in the last few weeks is that the only reason people believe that there is antisemitism on the left is because the Jewish controlled media is saying that, and I wonder if people even listen to themselves when they talk.

It’s kind of happened with me. Like I get to see my best and one of my longest friends at dick’s and it definitely took me a bit to get past “but that means hanging in person!”

I'm constantly getting stories about Platner and Palantir mixed up.

For the record, now that new information has come out, it's pretty clear that Leon Botstein has to go from Bard.

I do suspect a lot of companies that are going AI are about to rediscover why code reviews and change control boards and discussing the changes you made and how you dealt with consequences have become a thing.

I’ve been gone for a bit so I didn’t see that the duck house became the Winter Olympics complete with skiing and curling.

It's the classic thing where writers are trying to create experts in a topic where they're not experts themselves and end up falling back into their own assumptions.

While I'm pointing out issues (in a show that I mostly love mind you), having a character point out in detail reasons why he thinks a relationship would be bad for him and having the best of the best psychologists all be, "Yeah, but you want to hit it, right?" seems like some bad advice.

That’s a very specific wish.

Athens' Georgia Theatre was one of Phish's home on their way up. They played there 7 times between 2/1/90 and 11/12/91. Perhaps that's why in the middle of Love You on 3/1/91, they went into a Whole Lotta Love jam. Athens and Phish definitely had that for each other.

...but I still would rather live in that world than the one where no one talked with me outside of close friends.

My bias is that when I really needed help on the east coast, those who were superficially mean to me? They also shunned me then with the same meanness. So I don't buy it.

I prefer the west coast mentality myself because at least it means I get to play softball/talk to people about books and movies/etc rather than just having a much smaller group that will have their backs forever.

And I get that having acquaintances can be a methadone for not finding your group...

Where people from different societal expectations get the wrong signal, so assume that being on the trivia team means that they're new BFFs where it just means that they're fun enough and fill in the hole the group has with literature questions.

I get both camps in that...

Like east coasters tend to have two categories:

People who might be my core friend group
Fuck 'em!

And west coasters have a much larger middle group of:

People I don't mind hanging with casually but that's it.

I feel the underlying issue is akin to people mad about being friendzoned...

I think the whole east coasters are kind but not nice, west coasters are nice but not kind thing is bullshit, propaganda/apologetics for people who want an excuse to shun social niceties and pretend that it makes them better.

I think the core problem is signaling.

I have to be aware of this sort of thing for Mel's job. She was DREADING that day.

And it was crazier for a different reason. Normally the early games are empty but with the WBC happening and so many Mariners in it, this was close to the only chance to see starters play.

They got rid of the doubleheader.

It was originally scheduled that way because they didn't want a WC game and a baseball game at the same time, but the soccer game was moved to noon so the 6/20 early game is now on 6/19.

It was fun for a game. Every 2-3 years it would be worth it. It's gotten overwhelmed by autograph hunters, but the lower stress level was a lot of fun.

As for 1, they didn't show the attempt at least which is the same thing. A "quick shot of "Damnit! Answer your phone!" makes a huge difference.

For 2, yes, friend groups obviously exist, but rarely this easily where everyone just clicks just because they live near each other/work at the same place

Watching the new episodes and point 2 still holds.
