The World Economy Is on the Brink of Epochal Change
Capitalism’s operating system is due for a major upgrade. How that turns out depends on enormously consequential political choices.
www.theatlantic.com/economy/arch... "The most promising avenue—one that could address the needs of millions of Americans who feel shut out of growth and prosperity (...)—might be a fusion of AOC/Bernie populism with a more political, less technocratic version of abundance."

AI Found a ‘Magic Potion’ That Can Bring Dead Batteries Back to Life
Electric vehicles leave behind mountains of dead lithium-ion batteries. A new “injection” brings them back to life
www.scientificamerican.com/article/revi... By adding the electrolyte whenever the battery neared that threshold, the team was able to restore most of the cell’s capacity each time—and it carried on working almost as well as a new battery.

It's raining money for Carol Folt
But on the whole, USC execs earned slightly less money last school year.
morningtrojan.com/p/usc-carol-... Folt’s $350,000 pay bump from 2023 — more than twice the median USC professor’s salary — will likely keep her in the running for the country’s highest-paid university president.

This is a great thread.
China's aluminum sector is huge, well over half of global production. Aluminum is extremely energy/electricity intensive. Decarbonizing this sector in China would be an emissions win probably on the scale of the IRA (the greatest law since sliced bread).
