I often think books find their way to you when you can best connect with them. My tbr pile is a series of prayers waiting to be answered (or at least that's what I tell myself when I keep adding to it).

It is tragic. We have friends who live fairly far down the hillside in the city, and their home was still in danger. Sometimes folks hear "California" or "the beach" and think all these folks are tremendously wealthy; not always true, a lot are hardworking folks just like anyone else.

Killing off characters, writing in a tradition, why do writers fail
Has the death of a fictional character ever gutted you? Did it drive you to become a better storyteller yourself? Join an all-star cast of authors as we explore the art of storytelling and the joys and trials of being a storyteller. Bios: β€œSome people run from their demons; others sit down and have cocktails with theirs.” William R. Hincy is a man who does and writes about the latter. Having become a writer after deciding it was the only sensible thing for a problem drinker to do, Hincy has won three American Fiction Awards, an International Book Award, and his anthology of short Fiction, Without Expiration, was named one of the Best Books of 2020 by Kirkus Reviews. He now lives outside Los Angeles with his wife and kids, having found solace in the notion that the only things sacred are self and whiskey-winged interludes.
