You know funny you say that cuz i had the same idea with the RGB lights back then.

I started it in late 2017, I wanted it to be powerful and have an onboard inverter and battery pack, the audio side would run directly on batteries while the inverter was there to for in laptops n such. Running an amp off an inverter incurs losses so I went for D-class car amplifiers in a 3way xover

I had a ambitious project called “Tha Big Boi”. It was a “portable” DJ speaker that was entirely battery powered that was designed to fit in my SX4 to do off grid parties. It has two 18” subwoofers and two 10” coaxials for tops, I shelved it because well uhh covid. Will revisit this at some point.

Its also why I don’t hate BOSE as much as other people, psychoacoustics are a thing and instead of making a system reproduce music as it should or was recorded why not make it reproduce music a s it COULD be or SHOULD have been :3

Like vinyl is an amazing format but it had physical restraints, its why the 12” single became popular in clubs at the time cuz you could squeeze more bass and dynamics with the grooves being cut deeper and wider but vinyl is as vinyl does and there’s a limit yee.

Yup its why tone controls and Equalizers were so popular at the time. Then there the rabbit hole of dbx dynamic range expanders and subharmonic synthesizers that people added to systems to restore that lost sound info from a vinyl record. Once the CD came out it made those gadgets mostly obsolete.

to add to this the systems installed at Discotheques at the time mirror this. The speakers were BIG big but the sound (so ive been told from research) was smooth and unoppressive. you could dance the night away with not worrying about your eardrums blowing out.

Everytime i post musings like this is usually a shower thought I hold onto unless I forget to post lol

I think the reason some disco tracks from the 70s sound a little flat and not right on certain systems is because they were meant to be played on the gear of the time when receivers had lots of watts and speakers looked like this. Also not having the bass jump the needle out of the groove too.

Dont be so sad, with the new APU in the Rane System One (which ill be getting hopefully!) InMusic probably wont let that go to waste and new Denon gear is probably on the horizon! At least lets hope :3
