The president’s unprecedented decision to federalize MPD and activate the DC National Guard is a counterproductive use of DC's resources to use for his own purposes.

- because we used to do this with the nicollet mall farmer’s market every thursday. stalls on sidewalks, transit still in the street, and probably more people downtown then than there are now

they do not want to just “activate” downtown; they want poor transit users out of sight

if i don’t win the ebike lottery i think i am going to buy an electric scooter to commute this year. google maps says it’s a 45 min bike ride to work. i will have to check out the routes to see if they’re safe-ish but i think it’s workable. it would be great to not drive for most of the school year

Democrats had the power to do DC statehood in 2009, and again in 2021.

I know a few Senators said they wouldn’t break a filibuster or change the Senate rules, but leaders and the party and never even pushed for it. It was considered off limits. Improper. Unfair to Republicans. Uncalled for.

DC statehood shows Dem weakness goes back a while.

Occasional lip service, but barely even that, and effectively took the stance that hundreds of thousands of US citizens should be disenfranchised because it’s unfair that they’d elect Dem Senators, which would make the Senate less disproportionate.

That's my point!

Dems had 60 Senators, needed only 50 (plus VP) to get DC statehood, and had a strong "no taxation without representation" small-d democratic reason, plus a strong political power big-D Dem reason, but some, like, didn't want to. It'd be "unfair" and "divisive."

That. Is. Weakness.

I spoke to a politician in Fargo who was SHOCKED I was anti-Frey. “But he’s done so many progressive things!” Like what!

This should go without saying, but if elected to MPRB, I will vigorously oppose any attempts to build data centers in Minneapolis. Their negative effects on the environment alone should disqualify any plans for them here. We have a responsibility to protect our waterways and air for our relatives.
