Brilliant day yesterday, presenting at the Mediation of Medical Treatment Disputes: a Therapeutic Justice Model conference, led by Jaime Lindsey. Excellent range of work going on in different areas to achieve better dispute resolution in healthcare, and pleased to share the Scottish perspective.

Scottish assisted dying bill passes first vote at Holyrood MSPs have been debating proposals to allow terminally-ill adults to seek medical help to end their lives.

A momentous evening in the Scottish Parliament as, for the first time, an assisted dying bill passed stage 1 and into the further debate and consideration of amendments that it richly deserves #assisteddying www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

At the Scottish Parliament briefing MSPs on legal issues in the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill. The bill takes thoughtful consideration of experience worldwide, and puts individual autonomy at its heart. It has rightly provoked debate, so I was pleased to offer my thoughts.

Had a fantastic time @NHS Lothian delivering a Grand Round on resolution, avoidance & early intervention in disputes over care of children with life-shortening conditions. Really interesting discussions on pre-emptive dispute avoidance, clinician-parent relationships & ensuring a good death.

New way of measuring productivity while working from home and discovering a stack of Post-Its I didn’t know I had. Sooooooo much more satisfying to get a task done and then violently scrunch the Post-It than crossing something off a list 🤣🤣🤣

I love them too. Especially in flight. Lucky to have a spot up the coast where they come to breed.

Boddam lighthouse. Living on the coast I get to see a lot of lighthouses and it always makes me wonder what it must feel like to be at sea and need their light to keep you safe.

Morning walk. Definite chill in the air and hints of autumn. Sunrise getting a bit later and darker earlier in the evening. It’s been very disappointing weather all summer but I have to admit I love autumn!!

Till receipt unearthed from the car today. There have been 3 prime ministers since it was issued, not including the PM during whose time it was issued. The first 3 PMs I remember served 28 yrs between them. The receipt is from 2019 🙄

By way of a wee PSA, I’d not advise going out to the bin (5 steps from the back door) through snow that’s frozen to a nice crunchy crust, in Crocs. Not the best soles. Good job I had a grip on the bin lid (trying to wrench it free as it had frozen shut) ❄️🥶☃️

They always say you shouldn’t eat lunch at your desk because you should take a break, get up, change your environment. I can add to that the higher risk of getting yoghurt on your mouse. And no that’s not a euphemism.

Understanding the causes of local disputes in paediatrics to develop pathways to dispute resolution ...

Pleased to be able to give this a public home. Conference poster setting out our findings on pathways to dispute resolution in paediatric care. Hugely grateful for the experiences shared with us by our participants. Lots more work to be done in this area and more publications to come from findings.
