Trying to understand Heated Rivalry

Season 1 of Dexter is by far the best one but it's a very watchable show except for half of the final season

I am not at all susceptible to what I consider to be "14 year old boy cool". Swords, impressive cards, some sort of chainsaw gun or whatever. I thought that was awesome when I was 10 and it seems so boring to me now. This is why Absolute Batman is only good to me for like two pages at a time maximum

This monkey thing is horrible and it better resolve itself, I'm already in a precarious mental state
