Entire Auckland suburbs could be left without public transport services - council The council says without sufficient funding, there will be more expensive fares, a 30 percent drop in services, and increased congestion at peak times.

This is what is at stake if the NZ government's draft transport plan becomes reality. Please raise your voice so we can stop this from happening - I'll link to a very handy submission guide in the next post #nzpol #kikorangi

New large study indicates vaccines protective against long COVID

A new study of almost 1.2 million people in Hong Kong demonstrates the protective effect of COVID-19 vaccination against long COVID, and suggests that the more doses people have had the less likely they experience long-term symptoms related to the virus.

A Market Model for Intercity Rail - Greater Auckland The North Island Main Trunk rail line between Auckland and Wellington is 680km long, mostly electrified, and low speed for intercity rail (80-100kph). It’s a major public asset, but woefully underutil...

"Additionally, the cost of a sleeper-train ticket can replace a hotel stay, as well as covering the travel itself. So the potential market covers a wider price spectrum, including students and budget travellers."

ebike with an attached trailer with large plastic bins on it

This is the Kelmarna Gardens food waste collection bike. Ollie here hauls up to 60kg of commercial kitchen scraps which they compost for use in the gardens. He plans to upgrade it with a braked trailer so he can safely tow up to 120kg.
