At some point, I had been listening to enough French that my college classes 35 years ago resurfaced and this happened:

Me: asks question in French
Interpreter: …
Witness (who had been told always to wait for interpreter): …
Me:…
Court reporter: Counsel, can you repeat that in English?

This happened to me last year! I had a trial and my client & his wife testified over Zoom from France and needed an interpreter. So the routine is:

Me: asks question in English
Interpreter: translates question into French
Witness: answers in French
Interpreter: translates to English

Same. Except French. I remember just enough of my college French that I have a hard time not trying (and mostly failing) to translate it, which is more distracting than overhearing English.

The so-called party of ‘law and order’ were the perpetrators of dangerous chaos in my district this past week. ICE agents deployed tear gas without warning, nearly ran over an Alderman, and tackled people in the middle of the day who were trying to work to put food on the table for their families.

I think you may need to consider the possibility that they’re considering the possibility of granting you a hearing before they deny your weird pseudo appeal.

American parents, please ignore Trump’s recent reiteration of nonsense about Tylenol and vaccines, as well as anything the man ever says about the health of your children. Please talk with your medical professionals.
