“They definitely did not give me enough time” oh FFS 🤦🏻‍♀️.
I’m angry Cambridge reduced the fine. How are we ever going to get accountability if every time some able bodied privileged folk whines about it. Ugh. 😩

GRT leadership continues to claim this as the reason, yet I’ve never seen them or had leadership challenge them to back this claim up with data. This policy doesn’t actually prevent the drifts (see nearly any bus stop in winter) because we clear roads multiple times; transit should be doing the same

Thank you for raising this important issue & advocating for change. As a parent to a wheelchair user, I cannot express how absolutely brutal & impossible GRT stop accessibility has been this winter - and that’s a lot coming from me bc I’ve been expressing how bad it’s been for more than a decade.

Their actual policy is they don’t START clearing until 24 hours after a storm is finished. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Feeling stressed? Badly draw a horse and then watch your badly drawn horse run with other badly drawn horses 💜

I’m glad I’m not the only one who can’t draw. 😂 This was amazing. Thanks for the giggle.

‘It feels almost like I’m in prison’: Uncleared snow is hardest on people with disabilities One man in a wheelchair has gone out of his house only once since Boxing Day, because the snow clogs the sidewalks and intersections, Luisa D’Amato writes.

"Sidewalks are so clogged with ice and snow, it makes it extremely difficult for wheelchair users to get around and that affects their quality of life." #Snowbility www.therecord.com/opinion/colu...

Almost all of the stops around uptown Waterloo were unclear/insufficiently cleared as of yesterday. I’ve already written in about them but nothing changed. 😩 My kiddo can’t get on a bus in her wheelchair anywhere near where we live…

YES!!!!!!! 👏 By far the most difficult part of winter accessibility.

Back around 2015 my kiddo had extreme breathing issues & frequent hospitalizations as a result - I tried to get an air purifier in her classroom (offered to purchase) but they refused. Even after they tested the air quality and found it to be poor. 🙃🤦🏻‍♀️

The particular irony here is mobility plus doesn’t accept easygo cards 😂🤦🏻‍♀️🤪

Walkable and accessible streets should be provided by all municipalities - not left to individual property owners. (Thanks to Phil and Rodney for taking this upon themselves though!) #Snowbility

Any chance you’d be willing to advocate for sidewalk snow clearing within this motion? It’s the most significant barrier in my area, especially for families/kids with physical disabilities. I recognize this is technically a city responsibility but wonder if there’s a way to use this to collaborate.

We floor sign shaped like a giant peeled banana.

I appreciate your light up wet floor sign Melissa haha. 🙌
I had a similar experience… BANANA shaped wet floor sign! Freaking hilarious! For some reason they didn’t appreciate it like I did. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I also (esp as a parent to someone with Down syndrome) LOVED the normalization of disability and using sign language! Just a natural/background part of the story. ❤️

Hey Waterloo Region - the $173 million police communications centre was approved - and how it happened seems shady as hell

Definitely feels like something shady going on here… 😩 I look forward to your insights (and if you have suggestions for meaningful action!).

I am always pro making memories but obvi depends on the relationship, but 12 IOU’s for them to cash in 1 each mo throughout the year (ie movie tickets, dinner, a batch of fresh baked cookies, cleaning their kitchen, teaching them a life skill, a ride somewhere… normal things but make it memorable!)

🤬🤬🤬 it’s so… I don’t even have words. And the fact he & his cronies can just get away with it. Sigh.

‘You have to come back to work,’ Doug Ford tells Ontario’s public servants The Star previously revealed that 10,913 of about 60,000 provincial civil servants have requested alternative work arrangements.

Fun fact: The Ontario Legislative Assembly sat for 13 four-day weeks in 2025. It's now done sitting until February 17.

I generally agree with this policy however had an interesting conversation yesterday where this may actually worsen the health of disabled/chronically ill youth (ie long covid) when their only connection to others who understand tend to be online (esp if they have rare conditions). A gap to address!
