Hays Code was self enforced! So was Comics Code Authority! These weren’t laws and look what still lasted DECADES and destroyed careers/freedom of expression. US comics industry never recovered from it bc comics aimed at adults still aren’t a thing, that’s why manga filled the market gap.

It just sucks that some evangelical Christian with five private planes plays golf with the ceo of a credit card company in a different country and because of that furries are illegal

Btw, if it's not clear:
The tactic the right is using rn is to start censoring fetishes and kinks that are generally accepted to be "bad" or "gross" by most people to slowly warm us up to the idea of censoring all sexual expression online.

Don't fall for this by going "this is actually based!!"

Grammarly Is Pulling Down Its Explosively Controversial Feature That Impersonates Writers Without Their Permission Shishir Mehrotra, CEO of Grammarly's owner Superhuman, has announced that the company is "disabling" a feature that impersonated journalists.

CW: SA

I figured out why Grammarly's lil "golly gee we didn't think we were doing a bad but we'll try to be more respectful when we relaunch this later" has upset me more than it should: it fucking feels like rape that they're trying to suss out exactly how far they can push this before blowback.

A cartoon by Ron Cobb (1975), showing a shadow of US B-52 bomber above cratered landscape. Two people who look like Vietnamese peasants look up; one says “they’re having problems with their economy again.”

This is from 1975.

“Can I be Trans and Catholic?” Lent and the Value of Doubt I’m nine years old, and it’s Lent.

Hey, friends! My wonderful son wrote this wonderful piece about being trans in this Lenten season. I hope it moves you as much as it did me. And I hope your are finding love and grace wherever you are.

Dear everyone,

As per the post from the Bodleian librarian below, AI bots and scrapers are putting just about every website under great pressure, British History Online included.

A lot of excellent tech staff are working hard to keep everything working, but outages and siruptions are inevitable.

Londo Mollari Giorgio Tsoukalos

Many people have pointed out the resemblance between Babylon 5's Londo Mollari and Giorgio Tsoukalos, the Ancient Aliens guy

But they aren't the only Babylon 5 lookalikes

"automation will lead to everyone having more leisure time!" no it won't, it will lead to people in power going "we have too many people with leisure time we need to massively reduce the population before they enjoy it or ask us for the resources to enjoy it"

Remember, full-body replacement cyborgs may encounter distressing moments of cognitive dissonance as their mind attempts to utilize biological functions that are no longer present!

Claude cannot actually feel, it can't think, it doesn't have opinions, it isn't self aware, it doesn't have context outside the immediate window you are using it with. By asking for its comment on war crimes you are legitimizing the idea that it can be used autonomously or for war at all. Stop it.

“Inconveniently Large” is probably the most classic size I’ve heard in the transfem world …

And I absolutely support this metric.

the thing about confrontation is that it sucks ass, and it's hard to express yourself perfectly when under stress. but i think often acting imperfectly is better than not acting at all. if something bothers u, there are often others bothered too.

Adequate Adequate

Hey, if you're an educator? You *need* to read @timothyoleksiak.bsky.social and @joshuabarsczewski.bsky.social's Adequate, period. Whether you're rhet/comp or not, there's SO MUCH here that applies to every educator. I've been in good-tears several times reading it.

If they keep pushing AI in schools I worry we’ll be the last generation to even be able to identify what is AI writing and what’s not, let alone prefer writing from humans

Princess Peach is sick! She can't play her part, so Bowser searches for ways to fix this, a problem made even harder with the player already on Star Road. Desperate times! He finds the Super Crown, which takes care of the Peach substitution, and then grabs a Goomba and says they need to do the 'SMB1' plan, while holding a sign showing how his old 'Fake Bowsers' were actually minions in disguise. Mario arrives at the final door, and sees Bowser in his clown car - tho with Goomba-like eyebrows. The fight happens in a montage, with 'Bowser' getting pelted with a Mecha-Koopa, and we see 'Peach, or really Bowsette dressed up wholly in Princess appearance, crying out for help - before ducking down and re-Bowser'ing the Goomba, and showing disgust over having to act so cutesy. Cut to the end of the fight, where 'Bowser' is blasting off again, and Bowsette is happy it's all over. But they'd never seen this part, and realizes quickly what needs to happen as they see Mario's hesitant face. Cut to sick Princess Peach, gleefully watching the ending sequence, where a distraught Mario walks with a kissy mark on his nose, and Princess Bowsette rides on Yoshi with horror on their face.

Happy Mar10 Day! Enjoy 'The Substitute Princess' - Wahoo!

Warm ups part 1 Warm ups part 2 Warm ups part 3 Warm ups part 4

I went to art school...

I had no clue this is what people meant by "warm ups". Like, a whole routine? Each part specific and functional? Dang.

Probably would have less "forgot how to draw" days if I did these every time. I'm gonna try it.
