Maldives became the first country to achieve “triple elimination” of mother-to-child transmission of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B. Burundi, Egypt and Fiji eliminated trachoma. Guinea and Kenya eliminated sleeping sickness. Niger became the first African country to eliminate river blindness.
