Thanks to all the local residents in the Hill Top Road area who opened their doors to @oxfordlabour.bsky.social yesterday.

It was also great to see the community @freecycle.bsky.social going so well, bringing people out to chat with their neighbours and reducing landfill.

A new threat - Fabian Society International Women's Day is, above all, a moment to celebrate the achievements of women and girls. With more women MPs than ever, and many British women at the forefront of science, business, sport…

This International Women’s Day, I argued for @thefabians.bsky.social that we must

πŸ†οΈ Celebrate amazing women

⏫️ Push for more action

I know that many local residents are concerned about electric scooters, especially when they are used in dangerous ways and parked across pavements. I therefore recently met with Voi to discuss these issues and other matters relating to their operations in Oxford. As a regulated operator, they only let people with driving licences use their scooters, and their speed and locations are controlled. As a result, dangerous driving of Voi scooters appears to be far less of an issue than it is with illegal scooters, but inconsiderate parking has been causing considerable concern.

Voi informed me that they will shortly be rolling out a new small team of street patrollers focusing on key areas for poor parking compliance, and busy locations. I urged them to ensure this team gets a grip on the situation near Oxford Brookes University in particular, as well as at other hotspots. They also said that they would be expanding their work with third party contractors to get more boots on the ground to action issues more quickly, and seeking to remove unsafe and problematic parking locations in alignment with our local authorities. Voi told me they are also considering tighter parking controls on users.

I will continue to push on these issues, especially because of the impact this is having on my constituents who need clear pavements for their wheelchairs and buggies. I am grateful to Voi for taking on board residents’ concerns and will continue to examine the situation closely.

Congratulations to Aimee McKenzie who has been appointed as OUFC's new Chief Operating Officer.

Looking forward to seeing her work on the delivery of a new stadium for the Yellows at the Kidlington Triangle, especially as the S106 agreement and full & final planning approval has been granted!

♾️ Numerous more visits to local sorting offices
βœ‰οΈ And countless emails to raise concerns on behalf of individual residents.

I’ll keep pushing for our posties to be listened to, and local residents to get the service they deserve. 3/3

Many residents are still contacting me about issues with Royal Mail.

It’s right that Royal Mail bosses have now been called to Parliament to answer for shortcomings in service. 1/3

Then over to Glasgow Anniesland with Councillor Eunis Jassemi. Eunis is local and already working hard for residents as a councillor. He’d be a strong voice for Anniesland residents in the Scottish Parliament.

I had a lovely evening with many of the Senedd candidates for Sir Fynwy Torfaen in Abergavenny. Good luck to @anthonypantegward.bsky.social , Laura, Cathrin, Su and everyone in Lynne Neagle's team.

Representation, not red tape. ❌

Today, most of the Tories' 2016 Trade Union Act was scrapped, removing restrictions designed to tie unions up in knots.Β

Now our unions can get on with representing members and fighting for better pay and conditions.Β labourunions.org.uk/deliverinfull/

The war in Sudan is a war on civilians.

The UK must keep pushing for an end to the suffering - and for civilians’ voices to be heard.

Throwback to 2017, when I was campaigning for fair pay and the Oxford Living Wage alongside @oxfordlabour.bsky.social

It’s brilliant to see that over 180 local businesses have signed up since then, and will be paying local people at least Β£14.06/hour to reflect the real cost of living in our city.

Kennington Rail Bridge is vital to Oxford's economy and community, and its replacement is an urgent priority. Last week,Β I visited the site along with Layla Moran and County Council representatives to see just how urgent this replacement is.Β

Upgrading homes is one of the best ways to bring down bills for good. Home insulation installations dropped by over 90% between 2010 and 2024 – Labour is turning that around with the Warm Homes Plan.
