🐦 Ambush behaviour is rarely reported among #seabirds. We observed that #MediterraneanShag might employ this strategy to seize fish schools. Our knowledge on seabird #foragingbehaviour is still lacking!

This confirms energy as a ‘common currency’ linking individual behaviour to demographic outcomes.

We show that sea ice 🧊 drives individual energetics ⚡, while parental foraging effort predicts the population's reproductive success in Adélie #penguins.
!📃New paper📃!
My 2nd PhD paper is out in @animalecology.bsky.social ky.social !
Using a unique 25-year #biologging and population monitoring🐧 dataset , we uncover how environmental changes 🧊 scale up from individual to population responses.

The front cover, by Benjamin Dupuis, French Polar Institute, shows an Adélie penguin leaping from the water to return to its colony. @bendps.bsky.social & co report how depth tracking can estimate penguin energy use
Hey ! Would love to be added to the pack too :)

My first PhD chapter just got published in @jexpbiol.bsky.social ! We proposed a new framework to estimate foraging energetics ⚡ of Adélie 🐧 using TDRs. Our framework provided results similar to accelerometers and could likely be applicable on other diving predators 🐋🦈

To celebrate the end of my thesis on Southern Ocean predators 🦭, I’m selling limited-edition fine art prints from my expeditions 🌊🖼️. Printed on Hahnemühle Rag high quality paper, signed & numbered (only 20 per photo). DM me for details & bring the wild home! 🐧📷
Hey ! I would love to be included in this starterpack too 😀
