They've been on that particular line of thought for a while. They are absolutely convinced that more carbon intensive options like coal in China and India could easily be replaced by Canadian LNG and oil. They event want Canada to be credited for those reductions. I'm not convinced.

I agree. It is impossible to unring the globalization bell at this point

They wouldn't be spending so much money on ad campaigns to lure us back if our dollars weren't missed.

It's very odd. Despite their struggles to feed their models enough information, they are creating an environment that's utterly hostile to further creation.

Exactly. Demski has been killing the Stamps and others for years.

This is why I've always thought we should tie taxation levels to ongoing investments in the provincial economy.

Who is "the Left" in this pity party? The Left was wiped out. He lost to a two-time central banker who worked for his former boss while he was in government.

Kind of weird to characterize losing a free and fair election as theft.

This is why I struggle with the narrative that Iran acquiring the bomb is inherently a disaster. It weakens American and Israeli hegemony in the region, but that seems long overdue given the results we've seen.

The fact that Americans struggle to understand why this is more than a trade dispute to Canadians is another reason I'm not visiting. They seem incapable of meaningful self-reflection.

I guess it makes sense if it's all mostly theatrics between them.

Regardless of Iran's rhetoric towards Israel, it's clear that the power asymmetry between them and the self-preservation instincts of the regime have precluded them from being a significant threat. America's conduct there has been far more disruptive to peace than Iran's sponsorship of terrorism.

A big problem for me was the transition from text to audio and/or video. I feel like that's substantial hurt my ability to grapple with substantial written content.

He is so fucking stupid. "Mutually assured destruction" means everyone, including the planet, is annihilated.

That's the obvious strategy. You widely disperse expertise and munitions throughout the population, and then you fight a war of attrition.

How does the media continue to applaud Iran's restraint while simultaneously implying that they would act differently were they to acquire nuclear weapons?Unless their enemies put them on death ground, which would be unlikely if they were a nuclear power, I cannot see them every deploying them.

And Ukraine giving up their weapons is looking like a grave mistake. They are the only thing that absolutely precludes invasion from outside forces.

It's starting to feel like the only safeguard for a smaller country against the whims of the powerful is the acquisition of those weapons. North Korea is looking entirely correct in this regard.

Wow so you’re telling me everyone who cheered on the Iraq war is on board with this now too? And so are the people who opposed the Iran nuclear deal and killed it?

You’re kidding.

Trump bombing Iran without congressional approval was illegal and against international law, and this is what Carney has to say about it? Absolute pandering bullshit. Just embarrassing stuff.

My bare minimum expectation from the Liberals is to keep us out of America's messes. I will never vote for those fucks again if we get dragged in.

Over a million people died because of the Iraq War and subsequent American occupation. We haven't learned a goddamn thing.

This is a completely rational response by any power in opposition to the U.S. They've shown they are far too willing to instigate if not directly pursue regime changes throughout the world.

I absolutely agree.

We need to completely abandon the idea that the U.S. is somehow a force of good in the world. That was a dubious claim to begin with, and Americans have jettisoned even their tepid commitment to that under Trump.

I'm curious as to why anyone thinks Iran wouldn't act in a way to avoid their own destruction. They are an aggressive regime in many ways, but they aren't suicidal from what I've seen.

Not a single Canadian soldier should be obliged to risk their lives to assist American in this mess. They can lie in it without us.

Almost everyone was saying that it's essentially impossible to stop Iran from acquiring these weapons if they were determined enough. I imagine their leadership is now very determined to acquire them to preclude regime change from afar.

I will activity fight against Canada being drawn into this madness. We shouldn't be obliged to fight with them when the blowback comes.
