Solidarity with the People of Sudan El Fasher has been under siege and occupation for over 500 days with thousands being killed over the last weeks. With accounts of prevalent sexual violence as a weapon of war, hospitals being attacked, famine, and occupation prevalent - we must stand in solidarity. At a time when suffering is immeasurable, and moral apathy is at a high, we cannot let the suffering of Sudanese people fall into the slipstreams of the unseen and unheard. In the name of solidarity, we must all stand with our Sudanese whanau. Aotearoa has a key role to play here. It is not only in observing a crisis from afar. Our Government has proactively chosen to sign free trade agreements with the United Arab Emirates, the main perpetrator of the war. While confined to the borders of one state, it is a proxy war. For as long as the UAE keeps funding the RSF, Sudan will be engulfed in suffering for the time to come.

There is no such requirement for being a Fisheries Officer (though they do see a degree or postgrad qualification as helpful, neither are entry requirements)

So maybe librarians should be paid more than Fisheries Officers
