Love goes from a distant concept to a rush of sensations. The heat of a palm, the restlessness, the sudden desire to break into a run. It's all as electrifying as Adashina vol 6.

Was it worth reading an entire series for more Iruma yuri? Yeah! I'd say it was. Even despite vol 2

Iruma really likes to write about characters who've run from love their whole lives. Sayaka has run from love, tried and failed, and become cowardly as a result. After seeing her so afraid for a whole novel, that moment when she opens up is everything.

Vol 2 was not so great. Admittedly, a lot of why I found vol 2 so boring was because I really didn't care for Touko's character back in the original. And Sayaka's life at the time was ALL about Touko

Then vol 3 ended up being one of my favorites of Iruma's works. His idiosyncrasies shine

Oh yeah! I recently finished Regarding Saeki Sayaka. Honestly I read Bloom Into You (yagakimi) specifically to get to these spin off novels by Iruma.

Vol 1 was great. The portrait of a girl whose gay panic upended her entire way of life.

It breaks my heart that subpar fanTLs are enshrined in certain fandoms over some of the best official work in the business.

But the opposite sucks as well. Most high-quality fansubs these days are only watched by other fansubbers and are shunned by casual viewers.

I've thought about 週くら lots and lots, but my favorite aspect of the series is the way the characters manage to turn their desperation into happy memories. I'll remember this volume forever and always

Read the first chapter of AdaShima SS2 in Japanese with my newfound dictionary-diving powers, and it turned me into a sobbing mess. Then went back to the end of 99.9 in English, which didn't hit me too hard the first time, but this time it totally took me out.

Ok, didn't expect Shuukura to get to me just as hard as Adashima did. Read for 16 hours straight

Hayasaki no Kuroyuri is one of the most important visual novels ever made. it's about queer young adults being oppressed by the adult heteronormative world and overcoming it.

Smiling without an ounce of joy, Tarumi kept painting, tears streaming down her face. I suspected she didn’t know how to fix this any more than I did. So I sat there and watched as this unbalanced love triangle slowly fell apart. I thought I heard a whisper—something like, “I wish we could have gone farther together.” But it was as distant as the roar of the river. And so, unable to think of anything I had done wrong leading up to this, I embraced the present moment. In junior high I had experienced conflict. I had hurt someone with my words and felt bad afterward. But it was someone I didn’t like, so they were functionally a stranger. This, however, was most likely my first time ever hurting a friend.

adashima vol 10: beautiful devastation. Shimamura embraces pain she'd kept at arms length and lets a friendship crumble. It's such a massive mark of growth for someone usually content to go with the flow.

Crazy that the most boring chapters of Adashima were the ones that changed my perspective on relationships.

2 side characters take a little trip away from home to go fishing and throw a boomerang for the first time. Like what? Iruma's vision is just that powerful

Outside the context of AdaShima, it's like, "wow what a tragic story," but within, Enome's story is love guided by the hands of destiny just as much as the titular characters' story

Because of her, Hino Akira and Nagafuji can idyllicly bridge social classes.

Doesn't get more yuri than that
