re: soccer analytics, if you never learned to code, you still would be better off if you did. Yes, AI will enable you to do things you couldn't before, but what's missed in the learning stage is vital. It's analogous to the difference between learning to code soccer data having never watched soccer

it's a shame , during college we'd always go on Target runs
goofed off a lot there lol.
Really surprised at this one. Thought he'd at least come back to the J.League for a few years...
Don't think Yuya Kubo quite reached the potential we all thought he showed at YBB...
Harumi Minamino could've killed the game off but little details (1st touch, use his left foot, etc.) meant he finished goalless & S-Pulse managed to tie the game late on. Needs to be more ruthless with the few chances he gets but was a danger throughout with his runs in-behind.
02.03.2026 13:51 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Felt a bit bad for Gaku Nawata getting hauled off at HT. I don't think he was solely the issue for Gamba's poor 1st half. He looked tidy enough in the (very) few possession sequences Gamba had, also was involved in both goals.

Absolutely bang on by @jonathanliew.bsky.social
The Mail calls out racism on its back page, while promoting unsubstantiated, outright racism on its front page.

re-watching the FCT vs. Reysol game: i'm extremely surprised Kento Hashimoto's studs-up tackle at ankle-ish height on Kakita wasn't a Red Card... ๐คจ

I was looking forward to this game to see Haruto Nakano again but he (& Araki) are both absent as they are apparently (?) attending their high school graduation!
Still, Shuto Nagano, Seriu, Asakura, Ryo Nishitani, even Yuto Nakamura. Lots of interesting young players here!

we had a 8 minute VAR decision a few weeks ago in the J.League...

Actually playing fairly well? Shouldโve scored in the first 20mins, Nagakura with an especially egregious missโฆ Min. 20-30 Reysol were really hemming us in but our low block was honestly quite good. Reysol didnโt get dangerous shots off. Nice change from past years!

28.02.2026 04:15 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0oh also, Omiya are interesting as they are bringing back the DIAMOND midfield with a very high press, restricting space in the middle of the pitch (see their latest game vs. Fukushima United for some examples)!
27.02.2026 12:57 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0One thing I would like to see more from him is getting more involved in direct chance creation once the team is in the final 3rd. But yeah given everything else he's doing it's a bonus really.

Ota Yamamoto has picked up where he left off last season. Very good "zone mover" (getting the team from mid-3rd to final 3rd) by receiving between-the-lines, creating overloads, etc.
Loves firing off shots (see goal vs. Matsumoto), intense pressing (as the data says).
