I still remember the first Onion story I read. Picking up the paper in the a.m. & savoring it through the day is a core memory.

Far past its inception, the Onion continued to be distributed for free on campus โ€” I was told that it was a loving thank you from the founding members.

I can make 4 deductions.

1. This looks delicious.
2. This is not salad. Similarly, I made a fabulous turkish "bean salad" the other day that was only beans. Salad? Was it SALAD?
3. If this IS salad, and that mess of fully cooked beans was also salad, then...salad is everything.
4. I am salad.

NASW and 40+ journalism organizations condemn the penalization of independent reporting on government NASW and more than 40 organizations that champion journalists and the publicโ€™s right to know released a joint statement on Friday, February 21, 2025. Led by the Society of Professional Journalists, the statement condemns the campaign underway in the United States to penalize independent reporting on the government and its activities. The statement calls on the Trump administration to lift its ban on the Associated Press from White House events and cease punishing news organizations based on their reporting.

"When leaders try to silence reporters through intimidation, legal threats and denial of access, they are not protecting the country; they are protecting themselves from scrutiny." - @spj-posts.bsky.social, NASW, and 40+ orgs that support the public's right to know
