It was so hard to get my hands on that full set of books- used book stores and ebay were eventually required, but I got them and love seeing that image across all their spines. My favorite artist and author, come together belatedly but gloriously.

While there are other contenders that I will accept, it is my contention that Leonard Cohen is the greatest songwriter of our era. Hallelujah is overused, but for the simple reason that it is _incredible_, and the "Jesus was a sailor" verse of Suzanne is the best piece of musical poetry out there.

14. Space. I love space shit. I went to Space Camp three times, most recently in 2019. As a kid I subscribed to Astronomy magazine. I follow an astrophysicist on youtube. One of the biggest disappointments with the future we got was I thought by now I would have been able to go to space...

I also have to assume she knows that. But I didn't, that's a cool tidbit! I hope the young one enjoys the book.

I genuinely wondered if anyone reading this would recognize Morkeleb! The cover for that book, by Michael Whelan, is one of my go-to pieces of art for "what my platonic ideal dragon looks like".

13. Dragons. I collect figurines, dragon art, and sometimes dragon books or games. From Smaug to Morkeleb to Orm Embar, give me more cool dragons.
...Maybe someday I should read the Pern books.

12. A specific author: Roger Zelazny. I have read every word he published- every book, every short story, every poem, every essay. This took a while. I haven't heard any stories about him turning out to be a POS like so many other authors, so my fingers are crossed there.

A picture of a part of West Peak in Meriden, CT. Shows the bare rock at the edge of a cliff, and the view south, showing lots of trees and in the distance, the hills that block the view of New Haven.
9. West Peak. A site in the Hanging Hills in Meriden, CT, this is where I spent much of my high school years hanging out when I wanted to get away. Always windy, you can look out over a cliff to a great view.

8. Reading. For a while, in the early pandemic, I didn't have the brain to read anything new, but I still was constantly rereading something. Most recent book I finished was Nightborn by CS Friedman. I primarily read fantasy and scifi.

7. My partners. I have 4 but won't list them each individually as that feels cheap. :)

6. Board gaming. My favorite board game of all time is an old game called Magic Realm; my favorite from the past decade is probably Terraforming Mars. I am always down for Cosmic Encounter. I love board games.

5. The Ultima series. My favorite game of all time is Ultima V, I grew up with them, they shaped my tastes and possibly, through the virtues, my morality.

4. Swords and swordfighting. I LARP, I took sword lessons for a decade, and now that I don't do it often I miss the hell out of it.

3. Being a Dungeon Master. Turns out if I go long enough without my brain starts itching (and my fingers start itching for dice). I mostly run D&D but have a soft spot for Amber Diceless. My next game starts up on Saturday. I am doing prep in another window.

2. Making music. I sing, play the guitar and piano fairly well, play the hammered dulcimer, didgeridoo, drums, harmonica, and a few others quite badly. I have written and recorded songs, and composed the music to my computer game. Music is in my soul.

1. Listening to music. I'm rarely not listening to something. My favorite band is Oingo Boingo, my favorite genre is probably celtic, my favorite song is possibly Time by Pink Floyd. (None of those go together.)

I got about 50 pages into Last Call and then got distracted by another book. I really should pick it up. Only Powers I've read is The Anubis Gates, which I absolutely loved. I was introduced to him at a con by a mutual friend once, even. So I have no excuse.
